Fish-eye lens for full frame (Canon 5D Mark II)
Posted: 23 Aug 2011 at 23:53 GMT
What are the possibilities? I'm looking for 8mm lens I could use on my Canon 5D Mark II. Something not too expensive.

This is a good one if you are looking for cheap. Not sure if B&H ships world-wide however. I think you will also need to shave the lens hood..

Thanks. Shave the lens hood? That means the lens is not for full frame cameras?
It doesnt seem to be full circle on Canon 5D:

The lens was designed for APS-C cameras but can be used if shaved with full frame. It may not be full circle image but you will only need to take 3 photos around at 0° for a 360x180. www.vrwave.com/panoramic-lens-database/samyang/

Looks great, but how do I shave it? I have no experience with it and I'm little bit worried after seeing this video smile

Why skimp on your glass when you have put in the money to have a great camera?

Well, to be quite honest, we all know that this is not a cheap game, and whilst we would all like to make savings, skrimping on equipment is false economy. Eventually, we have to pay the price.

Talk to your taxman and see how this can be offset in the future. Normally, in the EU, this is a business cost. The sums add up for themselves.

That eBay deal isn't that hot when you consider that for a 150 quid more you will probably find a new lens, complete with warranty.

That shaving video is scary. Not a lot different from me in the shower with a Bic razor the night after a bottle of Amber Nectar. But with more blood!

Peter,
You might be interested in this thread on the Kolor forum. The writer shaved his Samyang 8mm with a Dremel tool. He was able to remove the front lens element before cutting the hood.
