Hard to see how the rig will rotate around the NPP. They should at least make their picture convey the possibility their product will work.

It looks like is something closer to my riddle while ago, mine was abble to keep the NPP.
www.panoguide.com/forums/tipsntricks/6292/
This seems to be designed to have camera oriented at various angles with some sort of repeteability, though might be some other 3 way tripod heads doing the same.
cheers, Dorin

I only see one way movement..BUT
There is another one a lot more professional looking, with a bit higher price tag but still reasonable:
cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=23066...:X:RTQ:US:1123#ht_4646wt_1095
I asked them if they can povide a little more information but I could nat get anwers yet.

In the photo, the camera is mounted wrong for panoramas, as if the company doesn't understand the need to rotate around the NPP. On the other hand, it looks like it just might work, but its hard to tell.

Probably including the alu bag!!!
A little heavier is OK with me the tripod and the D300+MBD10 is already quite heavy

NodalNinja 5 including RD16 rotator = $450 + delivery which must be more than $50
This is $145
Is the NodalNinja 5 3,5 times better?????

I would say it's more like 500 times better.. seriously. One is worth $1 and the other $500.

NN is made by panorama people, for panorama people. They understand what needs to be done.
The monster Gimbal thing you found there, is made NOT for panorama people, and most likely not by people who have ever in their lives shot a single spherical panorama.
It is that simple.
Buy the right tools for the right jobs.
You could build a panorama head if you have a toolshed and a couple of pieces of metal, and if you don't have 10 thumbs, I am sure you could make it better than the Gimbal one, in 1 hour of hobby working.

Regarding the difference. Think about if you ever break a knob. Will you even be able to find this manufacturer for a replacement part?

Jano,
It is worth the money to get a proper equipment which offers quality product.
At least, this will earn his money back. I personally have spend some hundred € in a Manfrotto panohead before I changed to Nodal Ninja. I now use it for spare parts. No sense in trying to sell it, it won't bring back even a small part of the money.
It is similar to tools: a low price screwdriver breaks just in the moment you need it.
I use NN Products for years, excellent service and products. Worth every single €. You have a great range of products with accessories. Plus Spare Parts and you can use RD16 rotator even for the newest M1-Line.
Regards, Heinz

" They understand what needs to be done."
Ok that is clear...
"The monster Gimbal thing you found there, is made NOT for panorama people, and most likely not by people who have ever in their lives shot a single spherical panorama."
There are other Gimbal type of heads not just this one, it is clearly a copy of a head worth $500-600.
"You could build a panorama head if you have a toolshed and a couple of pieces of metal, and if you don't have 10 thumbs, I am sure you could make it better than the Gimbal one, in 1 hour of hobby working."
Honistly I am quite good with DIY jobs but I don't think so...
Thanks jano
