What Andrew doesn't mention is that to get near the quality needed in the example you cited requires quite an expensive bit of kit. These mirror lenses fall very short if the mark.
There was a Ladybug advertised here some time back. It was quite expensive and so might still be for sale.

I was going to try making one using 6 GoPro's in an arrangement, but too much work at the moment.

I happened upon this post so it thought I would provide a little more information in case anyone was interested.
I work for Immersive Media which created that particular video for the street capture (likely Google at the time). That was captured with Dodeca 2360 www.immersivemedia.com/products/DodecaSlick_rev4.... stitched resolution of 2400x1200.
As Tactus mentioned, the major drawback of the parabolic mirrors is simply resolution, at best you only get the resolution of a single sensor. The second drawback is the variable resolution in the pano from top to bottom.
This is the reason you see many of the 360 camera manufactures using multi-sensor cameras like the D2360, Ladybug3, Social Animals, etc... The issue ofcourse there is the cost, for instance I believe the LB3 is around $10-15K.
Also the muse.mu link looks to be MattiVision which would make the camera in action a LadyBug3.
