Pano2VR defaults?

I have upgraded from Pano2VR v 2. x to Pano2VR v 3.x but haven’t made use of it’s new features yet, but certainly for what I do it works well and I am happy that Garden Gnome (Thomas) continues with its development. However I’m disappointed that a few niggling things have been carried forward from earlier versions are still with us with even an extra one or two which I’ve noticed. These niggles mostly concern my inability to set defaults which I would like to be remembered from session to session. Now if I’m wrong about this and there are ways to set defaults, I will be happy to receive the incoming flak and with it what I am doing wrong.
1. Opening page offers Quick Time output as default. I use almost exclusively Flash and would like to set this as my default.
2. Setting tab offers: Auto rotate disabled. I mostly use enabled. Pan speed default is 4 deg/frame, I prefer 3deg/frame. Default controller – blank. I use “controller_new.ggsk”
3. HTML tab now offers HTML enabled – that’s good. Template is set at “normal.ggt” but I need “full_screen.ggt”.
4. Back to the opening page, default FOV range is 5 – 120. I mostly set to 50 - 100 and FOV is set to 70 but I generally require 80. These two types of FOV settings seem sometimes to interact with each other, which is not useful.
5. Defaults for Convert input. My first conversion is to “Horizontal cross” Not the first on the drop down menu but Ok. I then convert back to “equirectangular” but this also converts the width from 6500 pixels to 6499 pixels which unless correcte results in a non-spherical panorma. For economy of CPU use and processing speed I often work with just JPEG but the default is TIFF and cannot it seems be changed.
Well I've said these defaults cannot be chagede but am hoping I'm wrong and someone will tell me how!

Hey Mark, if you create a project that will has all those defaults set, you can create a droplet. gardengnomesoftware.com/wiki/Pano2VR_-_Droplets After that, you just drag your tiff file on top of that, and your swf will be created. Or save your project as standard.p2vr, and copy that one to your project folder. Open it, and open the tiff you want to use.
**I just noticed there is a 'save as default' option under the 'file' tab. Didn't use it yet though.**

I am surprised that you are the first here to complain about this. I gave up 4-5 years ago.
I could continue with bad default settings like bad interpolator and with weird options like the converter default to export as layer (cannot be changed),
The worst idiotic behavior is as you say the converter settings as there is no way to change that. Droplets can not be used for that when you do conversions with patches and another thing. All conversions ends up with an import of the converted file. So if you want to do several different conversions you have to import the original again. And if you happens to have done the very easy done failour of not booking the include all patches you just have to start all over again and do your photoshop work.

"File/Save as Default" is the answer to most of these issues. Except I'm not sure about the answer to Hans converter questions. Pano2VR saves your settings the same way you left them when you choose "Save as Default".

Does not have any effects on these problems.

Huh? It does for me (using Pano2vr 2.3.3). If I open any equi image and setup the flash, Quicktime or transformation. Then set my parameters in all three.
Proceed to set viewing parameters, user data, hotspots and sound to whatever I like, then click File/Save as Default. Close the program, reopen it and all the settings are the same as when I closed it.
Your version does not do this when you do the same????
No the converter settings are not saved though...

I think "Save as Default" will take care of Mark's 2,3, and 4 issues but not 1 or 5. Issue number 1 default is always at quicktime and Thomas should change it to Flash as quicktime is not being used much now. I'll post the questions with a link to this thread at Pano2VR forum..

I am only talking about the converter settings. They are the only ones I and many other people use.

Create your project with all outputs and click on File > Save as Default: Saves your project preferences as the default preferences

Thanks everyone for your input. Bob’s is closest to achieving my needs. Having tested his advice and saving as default, he is right about not solving my point 5 – conversion to horizontal cross. Not possible, I suppose. That isn’t saved as a default. However he is only half right about point 1. The default can be saved as Flash but still shows Quicktime in the drop down menu but nonetheless actual conversion is in Flash despite this.
Ranald wrote about droplets, but I’ve not tried this seeing that “Save as default” does most of what I want.
Hans, hope this clears up what you said about the converter. Simple problems that I am sure Thomas at Garden Gnome could put right if braught to his attention because I think many of us, perhaps most, use Pano2VR as first choince.
