I am new to all this but making headway. I would like to do fullscreen panoramas but have been unable to find much information about them.

You need:

- Wide resolution of at least 4000px.
- To release it in Quicktime.
- and the Javascript to control the screen.

If you don't need it on the web. www.fsoft.it/panorama/FSPViewer.htm works very well at full screen. I love it!

Hi,

My aim is to produce full screen QTVR panoramas using a Nikon Coolpix 5700.

I refer to the post below and would be grateful for more specific advice on the pixel size. Does this mean that you need to have digital or scanned negs/slides with a dimension of 4000 pixels x ? before stitching. Or, alternatively is it that the finished QT .mov file needs to have a pixel dimension of 4000 x ?.

Can anyone advise whether my camera can produce large enough source images to make a full screen QTVR?

I would be grateful for any advice!

Hi Opetero,
Personally I use 3dVista publisher to create my web based 360's. I will soon be launching a broadband enhanced section on my photo website which will feature many full screen 360 photos of my local area.

They look stunning when viewed at 1024x768 resolution using either microsoft browser or Opera 5.7.3, these are the only two web browsers that support full screen kiosk mode. (in Opera you have to press F11 to get it).
I think the quality is far better than qtime panos.

3dvista allows you to specify what size in pixels that you want the image to be on the web page.
I have used a number of things in order to get the view so large.

If you have broadband feel free to take a preview of one such example full screen 360 photo.
WIth a connection of 512Kbps it will take around 15 seconds to load.

You will need to press Alt F4 to exit the viewer (or wait for it to auto-close)

To see the preview visit my page here :
www.derbyphotos.co.uk/preview/

If you find the image is corrupted or does not work at all then you may need to install Java from here :
java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

I found that it did not work on my new install of WindowsXp until I did this, installing java fixed the problem.

Thanks
Andy

FullScreen Info...

FullScreen Panorama required:

Panorama with >= 4000px in Spherical FullScreen Panorama.

For FullScreen Panoramas (cylindrical or spherical), you need at least one window width:

HFOV >= 70ยบ, to produce the immersion effect in proportions 4:3 (FullScreen).

In order to obtain it, you require a focal length <= 24mm ...

I hope that this information is of utility.

Hi Andy,

I am a 3DVista user in the USA and have had no experience with full screen. Will you give me your step-by-steps in producing the full screen in Publisher. I would be mighty appreciative!

Kind regards,

Hi John,
3DVista allows you to create images which are any size. All you do is create a FLAT one (not immersive) then in the viewer skin panel select Empty Skin, this allows to to type in your own size values. I use 988 x 738 for a full screen viewer (when viewed on a 1024x768 screen).

I use Javascript to open a new web browser window with all the controls turned off and also Kiosk mode turned on. If you are using Microsoft browser (or Opera, Firefox) then it will take up the whole screen.

Hope this helps.
