FPP KRpano GUIs
Posted: 20 Apr 2010 at 14:18 GMT
G'day all,

I would like to hear an update on where we are at with regards to the latest players and their GUIs.

I think the potential for FPP, KRpano, and any other newcomers are very exciting. However, without a good GUI I am left a little disappointed.

I also feel there are a couple of important basic features that could be better integrated into most of these solutions. Still photo slide shows, floor plans and an 'auto-play' feature. That is, an option that allows the user to sit back and watch all the panos and slideshows play through automatically.

Still photography is an important part of any of my tours and is a great value-add feature for my clients. Apart from 3DVista Show 3 (which I currently use) and Tourweaver, I haven't seen many good examples that seamlessly integrate still photos in the newer players.

Perhaps I have missed these features, so I would really like to see some samples if they are available.

Regards,

Morten

Can you provide a link to a good example of the functionality you are seeking?

G'day Andrew,

As i mentioned, I use 3DVista 'Show 3' which has these features. However, I feel it is lagging behind with regards overall smoothness and quality. I would also prefer the option to be able to start in a 'fit to screen' size.

Anyway, here is a recent sample using the features I am looking for;

Thanks,

Morten

The only GUI front-end/XML generator for krpano that I know of is Autopano Tour (APT) and that cannot produce a tour like that from the GUI.

I dare say it can be done hand coding XML but not from the APT GUI.

I can do everything you require with FPP and FFC (flashificator) the GUI for FPP.

As soon as the client approves it I will post it for you. Should not be more than a few days. You could just go to the FFC forum and look at the examples. The only example you wont find is the still photo slide show. This can be done (a bit tedious I know) by utilizing the record function in FFC and simply creating thumbs that upon click launch the full resolution image. The map is standard in FFC and the auto tour can be accomplished by simply using the record function moving to the desired location and then click "save position" after which you can set your transition time and other motion options.

Thanks Terry,

I look forward to seeing the sample. I have had help to create something close to what I want. It needs refining and I'm not sure that the 'auto-rotate' is working (or enabled). It is a bit of a mock-up using the same images that I showed earlier.

FPP version;

www.trueview.com.au/ventura2/index.html

3DVista version;

www.trueview.com.au/ventura/rendezvous/index.htm

I am particularly keen to see something that plays through all the media (to keep things moving) once the user stops interacting. My clients really like this feature in 3DVista.

Thanks for the input guys, please show us more!

Morten

It seems a lot of people missed this (since its buried in the krpano forum)

KRCE - Krpano code editor by Bazuki

uuc.me/2a1

it seems like a nice GUI, haven't tried it personally but worth taking a look at it
