I'll be geotagging my photos when running around Tucson with my Canon 30D. I have an older Garmin trex 201, the size of a large wrist watch, that will be recording my foot steps around town and up the mountain trails. With the camera time in synch with the GPS tracker it will be easy to pin point where the panorama was taken.
I'm sure there are newer and better options but all you need is something to record Lat, Long & time. Canon doesn't give you the option to embed the GPS data into the EXIF while you're shooting. You'll need a Nikon camera to do than.

Hi Thomas,
I think this link answers a lot of your questions:
www.gps-camera.eu/index.php?option=com_content&vi...
You can change the language on the upper right side.

I decided for dawntech for my Nikon D3, my preferences were data logging of the last position when you go indoor where you can not receive a signal and a pass through of my remote control to the ten pin connection of the nikon. - on top of the unit there is a free connector for this.
Be aware to take enough fully charged batteries.
The solmeta solution offers a compass function as well with the top model, but I was waiting for the mac version for months. So I decided to live without the compass and got the dawntech.

Here is also a new one, Easytagger gps, which you may find www.e-geotag.com www.easytagger.ca
It is something like solmeta, support heading, and furthermore, can log the trails when geotag in real time. So it can also work on canons.

Hi Thomas, There are a lot of ways for geotagging. I have a handheld GPS which I use for capturing lat/long and there are free softwares which sync the camera time & GPS time to write the location information to exif. There are a plenty of free softwares which do this like Microsoft Pro Photo tools which show where your photos were shot on Bing Maps. Another off the shelf option is Gisteq(www.gisteq.com). You can choose from their wide range of products. If you have a Nikon DSLR some of their devices can be directly connected to the camera. Check out their website for details. Raghav

My idea geotagging devoice is first, easy to install and use, because I don’t like to set complicated things. Second, catch GPS info quickly, and accurately. Third, do not affect any function that my camera has, like hotshoe and 10-pin shutter. And it should be small so I can carry it everywhere. That’s why I like my easytagger, it is perfect to include all my requirements. I ordered from here www.e-geotag.com/shopping.aspx. Hope you would have one.
