Featureless Blue Sky Zenith edits

Hi There,
Anyone have any tips for stitching featureless sky zenith shots. i.e : a pano shot on the top of a mountain peak on a cloudless blue sky day.
I am using a Nikon D700 16mm lens 360 absolute head and PTGui.
Cheers

Drag the zenith shot around in PTgui, until all parts of the image fit with the other images (watch for the shades being the same).
The blending will be problem free if you get it placed in a way that appears to your eye, to be good.

Using a template of a previous good stitch using the same combination should be enough to orientate to the images into the correct position. As Trausti points out the blender will deal with the rest.

With a 360Precision Absolute head you are surely using a template for stitching, even if you don't quite manage stitching without a few control points? You therefore know the y,p,r values of the zenith quite accurately and can position it automatically without any difficulty at all.

As you are using an Absolute that should be no problem., Thats exactly what you use the Absolute for. You just need to make a template for it. Just remember to take the zenith at the same clickstop always for example take 6 around and take zenith on number 6.
But with other heads just take the zenith at + 65 . You will then have the horisont in one side for setting a couple of controlpoints.

Template stitching today is not the same as it was a year ago. With PTGui project settings you can create a template which can do fully automatic stitching with the batchbuilder.
And you can use any good panohead for it.

Depending on what size the hole was in the zenith I would just patch it in PS if its featureless. V quick and easy to do. Regards

A 16mm gives you a large hole even if you shoot the 6 around at zero.
