Which QuickTime Version&Installation don't support VR?
Posted: 1 Feb 2010 at 16:42 GMT
I just got an inquiry from a local Ad Agency through VirtualAlbuquerque.com about doing 4 good sized virtual tour projects.

They asked about using QuickTime rather than Java (iPIX Java Viewer on my site) as the viewer.

I said I can produce QuickTime VR but suggested Flash would be better because of the larger Internet market penetration.

Which versions or installations of the QuickTime Player don't support QTVR. I want to provide accurate info so they can make an informed decision.

Thanx

I thinbk I found the answer to my own question.

Tell me if I've got it right

QuickTime Player 10 on a Mac doesn't support QTVR

All QuickTime Players for Windows installed on a 64-bit PC machine (Win 7, Vista and XP 64bit) won't play QTVR

You are right. QTplayer 10 does not do it.
You have to reinstall Quick Time Player 7 besides QTPl10, You find it on the snow leopard DVD under Extras to reinstall.

Just saw your question right now.

the current qt plugin for safari still supports qtvr in browser without the optional install of QT7, but under snow leopard you need qt7 to open stand alone qtvr .mov files on the desktop, etc

qt is basically dead as a format for panos, java vs qtvr is sorta like carrier pigeon vs fax here smile
