Locking the focus ring - most of it hidden with lens clamp

Any smart tip for locking the focus ring ?
Just a tiny bit of it sticks out in front of the lens clamp ( Shaved Tokina 10-17 on R1 with lens clamp )
I don't have enough room for a proper tape bit ( I have used woven duct tape and similar ) ,
I have been trying Sticky Stuff adhesive mass as well , but none of this works good enough .
As there is so little of focus ring available -it is also quite difficult to apply tape without slightly moving the ring.
Any other solutions that could work ?

Tape the focus ring before you install the lens ring mount.

How about super glue? Only if you are 100% sure you have found the hyperfocal distance

One of the things I like about the Tokina with lens ring is that the focus does turn freely. This way makes it far more useful when it comes to interior shots where the Hyperfocal distance is different. You are better to make the lens with corresponding lines (different colours) for each setting you wish to use.
Or, as Nick states just tape it before placing the lens ring into position and tightening. Nitto electrical tape works fine.

I just used Scotch Tape to keep my Focus Ring at the same setting while using my NN3 and it worked fine.

Yes , With NN3 you don't have any lens clamp . I ahve beeing using tape with good result for focus lock with NN3 .
And I would like to be able to unlock focus ring often with my R1 as well . So locking it under the clamp is not a good solution . I have been trying some tricks like inserting a piece of match in the clamp and then tape the focus ring also I have tried to lock it with an elastic rubber band but none of that works good . Right now I leave the focus ring unlocked but I would love to find a smart solution for that narrow space .

It allows me to check the focus setting when doing panoramas, but allows the focus ring to rotate when doing regular photography. I do not know how the ring is on your lens, plus getting a machinist to do the opening might be hard. Remember that mods like this probably void the warranty. Nick also suggested using "white out" and placing two dots - one on the clamping ring and the other on the lens focus ring. You should be able to line up the dots up for doing panoramas while allowing the focus ring to rotate for regular photography. No sticky tape needed.

Good idea - I think I'll have to stick with 2 dots on lens / focusing ring . Thanks
