Limiting the viewable area to a half sphere? Which viewer?

Hi there,
Would anyone know how you can limit the panorama view to just half of the full sphere. So I can use a panorama viewer like Pano2VR to show a single 180 fish-eye picture.
Maybe Pano2VR can't do it, how about other viewers?

ps. No replies yet to my earlier question on using a 1.4 extender with a sigma 8mm?? Is it possible?

G'da Adriaan,
You can limit the view in Pano2VR. On the main screen left hand side is 'Viewing Parameters' in there you have the option to limit the view to whatever you want for a given panorama, then output the .swf etc as normal.

Ah thanks, I looked at it before but assumed it was about the viewing angle.
It does about what I want to do, but it creates a terrible bumping effect around the edges, no good at all.
I would prefer it moved to the edges and gently came to a stop. The edge of the picture is a smooth circle, moving to the edge of the viewing area should also work like a smooth circle. Now it works like it wants to stay within an imaginary square..

Have you tried limiting the view using the full 360 instead of just one image. Give it more to work with.

I use the 2:1 picture where the single 180 fisheye fills the middle.
Moving around makes it bump against all kund of borders when you limit the view, even when you make it quite big. All I want is that people don't get lost in the black space..

Have a look here.. I put the edges at a quite wide 110 degrees from the middle. If you move around it gets bumpy around the edges..

What can I say other than complete a full 4 image stitched image.. then apply the left/right/up/down limits.
Concept is that you need to apply autorotate and automatically return to horizon and have a larger image to limit the view angle.

Yes, but the idea is to take single pictures with just the 5D camera and the 8mm lens. So no tripod, rotator, no stitching, NN R1 etc.
You may not get a full spherical picture but it can still be pretty good, especially with people. More like normal photography. If only I had a good way to show it..

Ah were is the fun and joy in NOT having to do the technical stuff. I think you will have a some what difficult time in getting a single image to function to your expectations with out doing a little bit of work.
So use a wide angle lens and skip the full spherical fisheye lens. Use a straight up slide show.
