Where is the Exif data ?

Hello to all, Yesterday I had a chance to operate D700, Nikon's FX camera with 14-24mm,f/2.8 N Nikkor lens to make some panos.
I took two rows with six shots in each row at 45 degrees up and down (total 12 images) and stitched with PTgui pro and I was able to get a good pano but not perfect one.
These are the some things I noticed :
# when I loaded the images in to PTGui ,The SW failed to extract the exif data automatically and I need to enter manually the lens and camera details, why is it to so ? please note I had not opened images in any other Imaging SW like PS.
# I had set NN5 setting according to the tables provided by the NN site ie lowerrail 101mm ( with battery pack)and upper rail 134mm,for 14mm setting. But still when I looked at the bottom view of the stitched pano the NN5 head portion is not correctly aligned i could see the teethed ( like a round saw toothed) alignment instead of neatly aligned round image I used to see with my D4ox,NN5 and nikkor10.5mm combination.
Where could I have gone wrong? Any ideas or thoughts please ?
If needed I will post the bottom view of the image.I could not do it now it self, as it is right now in my home PC.

Your exif will not work with a rectilinear automatically as the default is to use fisheye for 15mm and less. Change it in your Preferences, I believe it is called settings on PC.
Do not trust the settings at NodalNinja. I recently had to help some people especially with the D700 and D3 and found out that the settings provided on the page especially with the battery pack are absolute nonsense.

Have to agree with Hans on this one. The figures offered by the website are rarely right. But as they are provided by a mixture of users this is not surprising.
Dorin has been kind enough to point out my method of establishing the correct NPP so if you follow this correctly you should be able to get a near perfect result on any lens.

Thanks Dorin, Hans and Smooth for all the help . I read the the mini tutorial of Smooth and I will try to fix the problem. But a small doubt about it.
# first from the tutorial, I understand that I need to move the vertical arm which sits on the lower horizontal arm forward ie towards the center of tripod/rotator for fig01 ( right side saw tooth) reducing the scale reading
And move away from the tripod/rotator for the fig two (left side saw tooth) increasing the scale reading
Is my understanding correct?

You make the direction slide from behind the camera. If the "tips" of the saw teeth are pointing right (have rotation value in the right direction) you need to move to the right. If the "tips" rotation is left you need to move to the left.
