hotspots links
Posted: 29 Jan 2009 at 20:43 GMT
Hello fellows,

I'm following the Hot-spots tutorial from Pano2VR web site, PRECISELY! But the links to www does not work only those for local panos. Why?
Thank you in advance!

Eugen.

I can not believe this... After almost 2 days and a post on Panoguide... I have found the problem! In the "advanced settings" tab the "allow network access" option was unchecked!
Incredible...

Hmm, I'm a little embarrassed now, but it looks like I still have a problem... links are working locally, I mean they open the web page, any web page, but once the flash file(one single flash file, not .html) uploaded to a server, the link of the hot-spot isn't working anymore...

Eugen,

Mate, it is a security issue with Flash. To get around this you need to adjust your Flash security levels via the Flash viewer and then via the Adobe website.

1) Open a Flash movie
2) Right click and select settings
3) Select the second tab (Privacy) then the Advance Button. This will open Adobe website. "Flash Player Help"
4) Choose "Global Security Settings Panel" from the menu.
5) Use the "Settings Manager" adjust radio button to "Always Allow" and then "Edit Locations" (drop-down)>Add Location and enter the path or folder you wish to give permission.

Smooth my friend,
I guess you understand me wrong, the setting that you just described me is it for local machine, right? The .swf file is on line, uploaded to the server and the hot-spot link does not work. If I test that .swf on my computer it will open the link to a web page but once it is uploaded... will not...
I have try what you suggested me but still no result!
What could it be?
[not a word on gardengnome site about this kind of settings...]

You should NOT have the Allow Network Access checked.

What is your URL for testing?
It could possibly be in the way you have set your hotspots up in Pano2VR.

Are they Area Hotspots or Point Hotspots? URL is entered into the Hotspot editor or the Skin Editor? URL is full path including http:// ... etc ?

Hi Hlaflife,

Maybe you need to set the mime type for flash on your server. I'm not an expert and I don't know all the details. Through your server control panel, you should set something like: AddType application/x-shockwave-flash
Ask your hosting provider....

Best,
Henk

I have unchecked the "allow network access".
Hot-spot type is "point hot-spot".
The URL path is full, it begins with http://... and it is entered in the hot-spot editor. In the skin editor the place holder for the URL is: "$hu"

Your URL should be entered in the Hotspot defining area outside of the Skin Editor. Within the Skin Editor you should have $hu for the URL place holder and $ut for the Target place holder. If you are using multiple hotspots with the same place holder instructions you should add the percentage % symbol before the target within the Skin Editor on all hotspot targets I.E: %$ht

I can't help anymore than that without the .ggsk and link to the actual tour.

... another thing just to mind.

Pano2VR doesn't like special non English characters in the URL. Should be English a-z A_Z 0-9 without spaces, commas, apostrophes, parenthesis etc.

Personally I would avoid CaPs also.

Smooth, my man!
Thank you a lot! The "%" sign very surprised solved the mystery of non-working links! I appreciate your help!
Thank you very much again!

All the best,
Eugen.
