Retouching a panorama. Kind of wishlist

Hi I'm writting a panorama retouching software which will be ready for first release in a week or two.

I hope will be useful tool in the workflow between the stitch and publishing.

Although I know what are the challenges and what issues need to be care of to obtain a good looking panorama, I'd love to know which are most time consuming parts for you after the stitching and what do you think that will made the retouching more easy and less difficult, kind of what tools do you think that will be good to be available.
Name it the wishlist, if you love to, It's Christmas time, might come true smile

thank you for your time,
Dorin

Hmmm, Ok Santa, I'd like to have a stand alone program that would support RAW then export to .tif or .jpg...

Also be able to easily correct color, CA, sharpen, curves, layers, masks, WB and HDR. Of course it would also need to support everyone's favorite motto...

"If it's free it's for me".. I hope I'm not asking for too much Santa. laugh

Hi Dorin,
My biggest problem is getting rid of tripod shadows, or getting rid of my own shadow in case of handheld shooting. A solution for this would be highly appreciated.
Happy new year!

The obvious for me would be:
Patch tool: (that doesnt darken/lighten)
Clone tool:
CA correction: (maybe, one step Gaussian blur/fade blur>colour)
Reduce dimentions/file size
,,,and some sort of record actions function to repeat steps across many images
Ped
(looking forward to seeing this) smile

What would be perfect isn't a new program, but a Photoshop Plug-In like iPIX had with their old software.

It let me open a stitched .ipx image in Photoshop, and use ALL of the editing tools Photoshop has, then save it as an .ipx image

Something that would open a QTVR or Equirectangualar Projection as an interactive image in Photoshop would answer every request above except the CA tool, which I think would have to be performed on the source images, not a stitched image.

BTW, iPIX Interactive Studio has a Plug-In called the Edit Pack that includes;

Filter plug-ins:
Brightness / Contrast
Hue / Saturation
Levels
Sharpen / Blur

Paint Tool plug-ins:
Clone Stamp Tool
Paint Brush Tool
Rectangular Selection Tool
Polygonal Selection Tool
Arbitrary Selection Tool
Color Picker Tool
Color Palette
Brush Palette

Combine Tool plug-ins:
High Dynamic range Combining Tool

They let you edit the image right in the stitching program, in a near-full screen, interactive image after aligning but before the final Create Panorama step

I don't have the Edit Pack, but I've played with it in their Demo version and it would be pretty awesome for fast production work like real estate tours.

Yes please Dorin,
The most time consuming part of my workflow concerns correcting fractured lines on geometric objects like walls and tiled floors. Easy to do with PS - select an area, copy it, paste it, select free transform and drag it to where it should be. As I said, easy, but time consuming.
Happy Christmas,
Mark

Hi, Dorin!
Best wishes and good news. I struggle a lot with the whole step once stitched and the nadir patched, which means with the shadow and highlights, levels and sharpening. I would be nice if that step/steps could be made easier. In you we trust. Its in your hands. Thanks again.
Happy new year, Martin

Servus Dorin, Sarbatori Fericite!
A patching tool and a cloning tool would be appreciated... a PS plug-in is also a good idea but the highly price of that soft... maybe for the future or for the plan "B".
All the best,
Eugen.

Sarbatori Fericite! Eugen.

Instead of various tools with several parameters will be more like a wizard on which one select the problem and follow the steps.
For example if broken features need to be fixed the user folow these steps
1) select ana area
2) move it over the broke region or simply rotate it around a particular centre of rotation
3) proceed free transform if needed
4) adjust colors if needed
5) adjust the trasparency on borders, to not be visible seams between the roatated/moved area and the background

go to next problem..

in the "background" the software will prepare the tools and make them available for simple use for a speciffic step, the tools are powerful but discret.

again instead of tools in front will be the steps. You'll love it smile

one is for sure

*_1.tif right
*_2.tif back
*_3.tif left
*_4.tif top
*_5.tif bottom

and the equivallent for jpegs

*_0.jpg front
*_1.jpg right
*_2.jpg back
*_3.jpg left
*_4.jpg top
*_5.jpg bottom

appreciate any input,

I would suggest keeping it (the tile naming/numbering) the same as Pano2VR.

Thank you Smooth
The pano2qtvr naming convention will be used and other existing pattern posted here as well.

When the software will identify the name pattern used that will be preserved, the only condition is that the software to be able to identify that is to know it first and the corespondence of the names for each cubic face, the software will think in pano2qtvr convention of names but it will be aslo able to translate from to and back to any other known convention as well
