How does one go about making something like this Interface? I am really only interested in the thumbs www.panoco.co.uk/tours/cowdray I am sure it is above me but I have friends who can give me a hand/do the work. Is it done in flash or some xml magic? Sorry If someone could outline the basic steps I will know who to bug for more detailed help.
Cheers Dylan

Done using Flash Panorama Player I think: flashpanoramas.com/player/
Yes, that basically XML 'magic'.

Thanks Andrew, I bought the flashpanorama player a couple weeks ago after viewing some of the sites featured on flash360.net Inspiring stuff. I was kinda nieve when I bought the app, hoping there would be code/templates something to play with to get me there on their google group.
Anyone know of a link to a tutorial for making such a page?
Cheers Dylan

Dylan, The Flashpanoramas forum flashpanoramas.com/forum/ has a wealth of information on building up the xml. I am still trying to master this program as well. If you know the trick to saving the xml from a vt then you can look at this info to get ideas. Some authors restrict this and I am not saying just copy someone’s code. Seeing the code is a big help though.
Good Luck, TTurner

Thanks TTurner, I applied to the forum a couple weeks back, just need someone to allow me till I can post a Q there. At this point I think I might post there to find someone to do it for $$ While I have tried looking for answers on the forum I have yet to find an example. I have read a couple tutorials but they are above me at the moment and are more about flash.
Sorry do not know how to save an xml file, but a good idea. Cheers Dylan

Dylan,
Do yourself a favour and visit www.gardengnomesoftware.com and take a look at the video tutorials and read the forum where people actually share "skin" .gssk files and help each other out. Pano2VR will do just about everything you want and is being improved all the time with new features. Flash 10 no problem! Pano2VR is also xml based but has an inbuilt skin editor(GUI) which makes things a lot more visual whilst building.
A .gssk file is the images and .xml file (combined) that makes up the "skin". Simply change the .gssk file extension to .zip and unzip to view any of the available projects. Or better still open with the Pano2VR skin editor.
BTW, I'm still waiting for a reply from Denis (FPP) also.

Thanks smooth, Denis got me into google groups, was hoping to find more help there, still looking and reading. Sounds like Denis was out of town so be patient I guess. I will probably get pano2vr as well anyways, already own the immervision + FPP now. Its funny, I have shot over 6400 panorama's for work and for fun I shoot Panorama's as my hobby. I love the FPP sites some folks have created, but as a camera nerd just having fun I may have bitten off more than I can chew with FPP. Have fun Dylan

Dylan
The real Forum is the one at flashpanoramas.com/forum/ The Google Group is not at all made for questions like this. (even if a lot of people seems to believe that)
As far as I know the Forum is open to read but you need approval to post. There are several people maintaining that so it should be fast to get it.
As said find a couple of nice sites and grab the xml from them. Study and experiment. XML is easy to find using Safari and the activity menu. Just save it as a txt file.
Here is one of mine with just a few thumbnails and a still photo gallery. www.panoramas.dk/2008/flash/oslo-opera-F.html This is the xml: www.panoramas.dk/2008/flash/opera.xml
For one with just a full navigation bar with panning buttons you can just use the one from the FPP Tutorial examples.
When you learned the basic idea it is much easier than using Pano2VR skins. And you get much more functions to play with.
The first site I did was this asb.360-foto.dk/ I got the basic xml from one of the other guys at the forum and he had got it also from someone else. The original page from that xml was much different. My first version looked like this: qtvr.dk/handelshojskolen/ Even if it looks much different the basic xml used is almost the same as the final version.
I have actually used that same base xml for all my sites just by learning more and modifying it.

Hi, One of the members of the FPP forum got a gui up for Flash Panorama Player. It can help you with the xml. (In fact you don't need to know anything about xml with this). It's more or less for single and not multi node tours for the moment. With a little bit of practise, you will get the multi node tours up quickly.
Try the free version first. flashificator.com/

Paddy

Thanks Paddy, flashificator was one of the things I found, awesome application I noticed today when you click to buy that the link works, I have tried the free one, does the $100 offer a way to make thumbnail galleries? Not much info on the site.
Thanks Hans, will go get safari and have a peek at the code. I applied to the flash forum about 3 weeks ago, just waiting to get the final go ahead. I am sure info like this will help other folks trying out flash pan.
Cheers Dylan

Hi Dylan,
It does a lot of coding for you but it can’t do thumbnail galleries for the moment. I bought the full version and although I don’t use it for my projects….not yet anyway, it’s great to make hotpsots, effects, etc. Then you can look at the xml file, see how it is done and copy the code into your own project. One major, major drawback is that you can’t actually save a project and come back later to work on it. You have to do the whole thing in one go. This is why I’m not using it. When I can save a project or built a template…apply the template to the project, then I will. The software is only just out…and they are adding extra features frequently so I guess in a couple of weeks, months it will be a great help. The upgrades are free so it should be worth the investment.
The best resource is still the fpp forum www.flashpanoramas.com/forum/ There are so many examples up they and the members are really helpful.
Hans kindly put up an example just above linking to his xml. There you can see how he did his thumbnail gallery and more.
Regards,
Paddy

If it's any help, here is the code for one of the thumbnails:
<!--- NORMAL ---> <spot id="thumb1" url="thumbs/view1.jpg" static="1" depth="16" staticX="9" staticY="-9" alignX="0" alignY="-1" salignX="-0.5" salignY="0.5" onOver="alpha=0,50" onOut="alpha=1,50" onRelease="loadView1" alt="Front" />
<!--- OVER ---> <spot id="thumb1_over" url="thumbs/view1_over.jpg" static="1" depth="15" staticX="9" staticY="-9" alignX="0" alignY="-1" salignX="-0.5" salignY="0.5" alt="Front" />
<!--- SELECTED ---> <spot id="thumb1_selected" url="thumbs/view1_over.jpg" static="1" depth="17" staticX="9" staticY="-9" alignX="0" alignY="-1" salignX="-0.5" salignY="0.5" linked="qtvrs/view1" alt="Front" />
Basically there are three "states" of the thumbnail (normal, over and selected), utilizing two seperate images (view1.jpg &view1_over.jpg) . Each "state" is on a different layer (depth="15/16/17"). When you hover over a thumbnail the "normal" one is made transparent (onOver="alpha=0,50") so the thumb underneath can be seen. The "selected" thumb is on the highest layer and is tied to the 360 currently being viewed (linked="qtvrs/view1").
Cheers,
Jez
