Hi,
(Roundshot VR Drive (only motor platform) + Atome head + 1D sMark II + 8mm f/3.5 EX)
I am worry if this combo is good as i think.
Actually my friend owns a Canon 1Ds mark ii camera which i can borrow.
I was thinking to go with 360precision absolute and Canon 15mm fisheye lens to shot 6 images + Z + N.

Now this idea came into my mind since i find out that there is no need for Z and N shot. Only 4 shots at 90°

So by purchasing the Atom head there is no need to find nodal point and by using motorized rotating platform i will no worry about precision. And i think i can also use this combo on pole for aerial panos. (like monopod from Agnos)

Did i miss something?
Please tell me your suggestions on this.

P.s. I have used d80/10.5+360precision absolute and was very happy with results!

Hello:

It´s a good think - if you place an order - you need a special adapter to add the 360precision absolute on the ROUNDSHOT VR-Drive motor platform.

We offer this adapter for the MK PanoHead and other VR heads...

Have a nice day

Your proposed setup looks very interesting. My only concern would be having all that weight (more than 3 kg) on top of a flexing pole. The only suggestion I would have to reducing the weight would be to, perhaps, replace the Canon 1Ds with a lighter body like the EOS 350D, which is about half the weight.
I've handled the Roundshot VR recently at a pano workshop, as well as the Agnos extendable poles. Again, my main concern would be the weight of all the parts, especially if combined outdoors on a windy day.

I plan to be using a similar setup to yours in the next few weeks. I'll let you know how it works for me.

Thanks bigwade for (nodalninja.com/forum/index.php?topic=110.0)!

One more question: Which lens are suitable for 1ds mark ii for 1 row shot without Z N ? Will the quality (sharpness) be like nikon 10.5?

thanks all!

(Shaved) Tokina 10-17mm Zoom Fisheye Lens at 10mm setting.
As good or better than 10.5mm Nikkor.

You will get the best quality with a Tokina 10-17mm fisheye (shaved) used at 12,5mm
It is the only lens you can obtain full spherical in 1 row and 4 images and using maximum of your fullframe sensor. That gives you almost 10000x5000 pixels

But as you have 16.7 mp the Sigma 8mm will also give you enough for fullscreen. 6600x3300 pixels
