Please see moonshine.homedns.org:2655/pano/tech/peleng-8mm-c... for sample shots of my Peleng on a Canon 40D.
No matter at what aperture, F3.5 or F16, i let my 40D settings remain as 0.3 secs, ISO 400, it does not seem to be restricting light from going into the lens as expected when at F16 (darker) compared to F3.5 (brighter).
Do i have a faulty piece?

Is this the process you use?
First you set the f/stop ring to the desired stop. That ring just sets a limit to the aperture travel.
Then you turn the UNLOCK/LOCK ring fully to the LOCK position (clockwise from the rear of the camera.) That is the aperture actuating ring that closes down the aperture (and opens it in the UNLOCK direction.)
Theough the viewfinder you should be able to see the image darken as you turn the ring to lock.
It is a totally manual lens.
Good luck.

Hi Ed, i just read about that from www.muellerworld.com/peleng/! hahaha thanks so much too!
"The Peleng lens has a stop-down ring that controls the opening and closing of the aperture seperately from the aperture selector. What this means is that once you use the outer ring to select the f/stop you need (3.5 - 16 with click-stops), you must then close down the aperture manually. This is easy to do by just rotating the "LOCK/UNLOCK" dial into the "LOCK" position. If you're looking through the viewfinder and you are any aprerture other than f/3.5, you'll see it get darker as the aperature closes down. I have forgot to do this several times, ruining many photos."
