www.vrmag.org/vartist/spotlight/TRISTAN_SHU_S_VR_... Have a look at the pano taken inbetween the cablecars. I cant figure our how it was done. I'm thinking that perhaps he used a boom through the window of the stationary capsule and then did a fantastic job editing the windows.... Any ideas? gus

My best guess is he still completes the panorama image series normally. For the 2 action angles maybe at click stop 3 and 4, he takes 11 rapid fire to capture snow board person in movement. Then blends the 11 images at two different click stops, then stitches all to make complete panorama.
But then I am just guessing

I'd guess he was standing on the platform of one of the cars (the one that is sunlit). Note that the roof of that car is just about level with the pano.

Hello, I just went to the page... this pano is stunning !!!
He gives the explanation just above:
"I finished killing it for the vanoise express pano, and I had to use a specially designed pole for this assignment."
so it is an extra long pole... wow...

Poles for sure! I think the horizon needs somework in this one though. Its not very level. IMHO very unique shots indeed.

I can't help think this is a boring reply but if you read the text of the article it does say
"I actually broke my Agnos pole using it horizontally to reach new viewpoints, like in the rafting VR. I finished killing it for the vanoise express pano, and I had to use a specially designed pole for this assignment."
So he did use a pole, though its ambiguous if it was actually a modified agnos one. (The vanois express being the cable car).

He was doing work for the ski resort, so they probably stopped the cable cars so he could shoot. It's nice to have that kind of power
When I shot The "Top of the Rock" for WNBC, they had the security guards move everyone off the roof so I could shoot. Weird standing ontop of a building midday with NOBODY around.

Very nice job done on the VR using the pole...
Someone can "reverse engineer" the panorama by watching carefully the sides of the VR that has less image quality than the others... and there is where the zenith / nadir sides are...
So in the case of Vanoise Express panorama, the side having more blur and chromatic aberration is where the pole was pointed out from... this also is true for the zenith but with a bit of better quality relative to the nadir...
