New Lenses Not Fitting Old Cameras?

Hello everyone,
I am considering buying a Canon 1Ds Mark2. However, I hear the new generation of lenses may not fit the older cameras. Is this true R complete nonsense?

If you're getting a 1ds why would do you care about the older generation of canon bodies ?
All canon ef lenses will fit, no canon efs lenses will fit [ the sf-s lenses are meant for smaller sensor and mirror box cameras such as the 20/30/40D series, these cameras will also take the ef lenses though]

No canon EF or EF-s will mount on early non AF film bodies AFAIK

Thanks Marcus,
I reckoned, that as the 1Ds Mark2, was about 4yrs old, it might fall into the category of those cameras the new type lenses might not fit. I've no intention of buying this new stuff yet. Let it be proven, and come down in price. I would be slightly concerned though, about the ability of the camera to hold it's value for a few more years!

The reason the "new" lenses either don't work or work with reduced functions is not because of the age of a camera like the 1Ds MarkII.

The Canon 10-22mm EFS Wide-Angle Zoom lens I have for my Canon XTi was simple made for the smaller APS-C size sensor all the Canon dSLRs use except the 1D which has a full fram 24x36mm sensor (the same size as 35mm film)

Nikon is making lenses specificly for their smaller DX size sensors too

Age isn't as much an issue as sensor size the lens was designed for.

Also from what I've read, some of the lenses designed for the DX sensors will work on the Nikon D3, but in "DX Mode" which doen't make use of all of the Full Frame sensor. So the lens is functional but sacrifices the benefit of the large sensor.
