Pano2Movie Problem please help...

Hi Guys me again ,
Still haven't figuerd out how to make a movie out of multiple panos in order to be played from a dvd player onto a flatscreen tv,,,,
This was the original thread:
www.panoguide.com/forums/qna/4640/
I am sorry but i still cant figure out how to do this through Easypano its driving me mad lol,
I have tried exporting it in H2.64 AVI then tried converting it to uncompressed avi with virtual dub but i dont think i was doing it right, well anyway then tried several times with Cyberlink Power Director 6 Delux to convert it to a better resolution but still comes out crap and i dont know why,
Anyways im now going to try it differently i am now using pano2movie, i think its great and easy to use just load QTVR select tv dimensions, framerate click on record and drag and zoom on QTVR and once you realease mouse it stops recording, well once i do that and click on preview it looks PERFECT! just what i need but the problem starts when i try to export it..
It takes ages ( i understand that ) and then makes hundreds of pngs on the folder i select it to and thats it!! "~@'#!!
Where's the movie file???
i know that this way i will have to join the individul movies with a movie editing program,
Can anyone shed some light on this ? i would really apreciate it.
Also any preffered software for the joining of the pano movies,
Thanks in Advance
Kyle

Ask Ian. This is not the place for support of Pano2movie.

Quicktime Pro. Cheap and easy to work with.

I have looked at and read the whole help document and still can't figure out with pano2movie is only exporting the png frames and not creating a movie file?
I have send a email to Ian just waiting to reply,
Has Anyone used pano2movie and experienced same problem before?
Or is there another way of doing same thing ( panos to a movie file )
Thanks In advance

olivare Another VR photographer I trade e-mails with used Pano2Movie to create QuickTime video files in the .mov format and then put the separate scenes together into one video of the house with QuickTime Pro. He even got some music to use for the background sound.
He did have trouble getiing it converted from QT into a DVD format that could play on a TV and finally got one of the businesses that convert film into digital video to do that part.
Another option is RealViz Stitcher Unlimited, it can output both QuickTime .mov and Microsoft .avi files and the new 5.7 version is only US$350
Hans, I think this is definitley a forum that can discuss VR Photography to Video conversion. I've talked to a potential hotel customer about doing an iPIX Virtual Tour of their hotel and also to provide a video conversion of the scenes in a movie about the hotel to use on www.TripAdvisor.com. TripAdvisor is one of the busiest travel websites and will host the movie free, but doesn't support any of the VR formats, like a couple other travel websites. So by offering the video variation of my VR work they get broader use of my product and I make more money.
We both win! What a deal!
Olivare, I haven't worked with Pano2Movie, but suspect there's some setting you don't have turned on or off. If you contact Ian Wood at Pano2Movie.com, I'm sure he'll get you on the right path

Hi Doug thanks alot for your reply,
So RealViz Stitcher Unlimited will do the same thing?
will it support multiple panos?
Another question is i don't need to stich the panos cause i've done them already with ptgui so will accept panos that are already stitched?
And does it have the option of exporting to different resolutions?
E.G 640-480 1280/720 hd etc
Thanks in advance!

olivare RealViz Stitcher Unlimited will output both .mov and .avi video clips of each scene, but it won't put them together like a tour of a house that shows the Living Room, Kitchen, Master Bedroom and Backyard all in one video file. Neither will Pano2Movie.
You'd have to use something like QuickTime Pro, Adobe Premiere or Premiere Elements, Windows Movie Maker, etc to put the separate scenes/clips together into one big file. With those progrms you can add sound, set the fades from one scene to another and add titles
I can't personally confirm that RealViz Stitcher Unlimited will convert directly from an Equirectangular Projection to a Video Clip because the Demo Version I'm playing with won't allow use of the their Format Coversion tool in the Demo. The "Load Panorama" function is "greyed" on the File menu.
The "Movie Options" under Tools is also "greyed" and I didn't find anything in the RVSU Users Manual about output sizes, but you would normally set the size of the video in the Editing Program like QuickTime Pro or Adobe Premiere. I used Windows Movie Maker to edit and combine the videos on my www.VirtualGolfCourseTour.com and had the option of several sizes, compressions and a couple of formats for the final output.
You should see what Ian Wood says about your problem with Pano2Movie before buying another piece of software.

Olivare I found this on the Realviz website that shows a comparison of the Unlimited and Express versions of Stitcher;
Render the movie in .mov or .avi, in any format (PAL, NTSC, HD, Custom) at any frame rate and definition.
It was Yes for both versions

Doug,
Thanks for all the info!
Really appreciate it.
Ermm well to me Realviz sounds better, it gives you the option of outputing in different formats unlike pano2movie which only outputs to .mov, well i think it does i still haven't been able to do this lol.
I Think im going to wait for Ians Reply and see if i can get it to work right and if that goes well i'll purchase pano2movie ( not purchased yet ) if not i'll try Realviz which you have used with no problems ?
One more thing which software do you prefer best for the linking of panomovies and adding music other than windows movie maker,
and last question realviz will support spherical images right ? not only landscape panos?
Thanks in advance

Kyle I haven't purchased RealViz Sticher Unlimited 5.7 yet, but will be for sure, especially now that they lowered the price to US$350
I haven't actually been able to try out the video output on the Demo versions of the progam I've been testing, its disabled in the Demo. So I can't say I haven't had any problems, because I'm not using on a regular basis like I do my iPIX Interactive Studio
As far as a Video Editing program, I've used Windows Movie Maker 2 that comes free with Windows XP and Windows Vista for 2 major projects and a couple smaller videos.
Its not quite as sophisiticated as other video editing programs but it did everthing I wanted for the www.VirtualGolfCourseTour.com and www.VirtualSkiAreaTour.com I did and got paid well for.
I'm thinking about buying Adobe Premiere Elements to be able to have a little more sophisticated tools for the next Vitual Gold Course Tour I do, but some of the video editing programs need tons of processing power and lots of harddrive space to work with. My newer Compaq should be able to handle it
Somehow Microsoft figured how to get Movie Maker to work just fine on my older Compaq 1.3mhz Celeron with 256MB RAM and a 40GB Harddrive. I tried Pinnacle and it needed massive harddrive space and struggles just to open on the 1.3mhz processor.
I'm a believer that Video and Virtual Imaging are complimetary medias not competing technologies; I sell Virtual Images when I just need to show a location like a hotel room or restaurant, and recomend Video when "motion" is essential or a "scene" has multiple locations like a Hole on a Golf Course (the Tee, the Fairway and the Green) or like "The Ride Up" the Sandia Peak Tramway on www.VirtualAlbuquerque.com. (The narration on The Ride Up is me)
Instead of thinking of myself as just a VR Photographer, I consider myself as a Mutimedia Producer.
The distributer for Realviz in England/Ireland is going to send me screen caps of the Movie Options menus from RVSU5.7 so I'll be able to tell you more about the size outputs.

Kyle & Will, give me a chance! It's the middle of the weekend, I'm in a foreign country and I was at a friend's wedding all of yesterday. As a general rule, Friday afternoons (I'm in the UK, so Kyle's email arrived at 13:34) aren't the best time to get an instant response, even if I'd been in the office...
Kyle - I've had one other report mentioning error messages about files already existing, but I can't reproduce the problem which makes it *extremely* hard to fix.
Troubleshooting stuff - what version of Pano2Movie is this? 2.0, 2.0.1, 2.0.2, the 2.1 beta? Operating system - I assume you're using Windows from your posts here? Version of QuickTime that's installed? Do you get the same error with different length sequences, with JPEG frames rather than PNG, with 'as-is' QuickTime export? Does the error occur every time or only sometimes?
Will - it's possible it may have got lost somewhere, but I can't find any record of communication from you, either by direct email, the contact form on the website or the forum on the website. I can't fix problems that I don't know about...
That said, if you're on Windows and seeing crashes *when loading a QTVR file*, this appears to be a conflict between the development environment that Pano2Movie is written in and some graphics card drivers. I don't know if this is the problem you are seeing as 'everytime it crashes' doesn't narrow it down much, but if this is the problem then the only option is to look for alternative drivers for your graphics card.

Hi Ian,
Thanks for your reply im using the demo version of the 2.0.2 (Build 57b) and using the export options for best quality: Slowest but best ,PNG's , save as quicktime mov, I made a new folder named it temp and directed the software to do everything in that folder, Well once i run it, and finishes creating the frames a error message pops up and says png blabla_01 is already in this folder do you want to clear folder or cancel,
All it does is create all the png images and no .MOV?
One thing i found is that i can load the image sequence in quicktime pro and play it but that all i can do and what i need is to convert the panos into small movies so i can then put them all together with a video editing program and maybe add sound and stuff, for it to be played later on a flatscreen tv,
Any ideas what i should do. am i doing something wrong, Pano2movie will create .mov files from panos right or only the images needed to create it?
Thanks in advance
