Immervision confusion

I'm trying to research whether or not I should purchase Pure tools to make my virtual Tours. I've been on Immervision's website, and I'm not at all sure what I need to buy.

Excuse me for being dense. :-P

It seems like I need Pure Starter Toolkit to build the tours, but i also need Pure Tool hotspot creator in order to make hotspots? And then I need to buy Splasher to make a customized loader page?

Is there a Pure Tools app that has all this bundled together?

What happened to G2 FileBuilder (or something like that) that was in beta? Did it become Pure Tools? Is it still legal to use the G2 app?

Immervision and confusion 2 words that marry each other so well

If you want my advice stay WELL AWAY from immervision. Zero customer support and almost every pano i try and view created with this (product smile )fails to load.

just try getting an answer from them after you have purchased devil devil devil

You don't have to buy anything just to create virtual tours using the Immervision PurePlayer - the player itself it's free:

www.immervision.com/en/multimedia/multimedia_prod...

But if you don't buy the PureStarter Toolkit, you won't be able to access the documentation, customize your splash screen or use any of the additional Pure tools
(e.g. the Hotspot Creator).

You can try the JATC tour creator to create your PurePlayer virtual tours as well:

Panomaniac - I never tried to contact Immervision, but I take your word for it...The truth is that the support for most of the small panoramic VR software producers is pants . But if you never got a pano created with PureStarter Toolkit to work, you must be doing something wrong.

@Ed 360, I think immervision uses their own extension. So although the viewer is free you still need the software to make your own panoramas suitible for the viewer.

@emarts, maybe www.flashpanoramas.com is something to look at. If you have basic knowledge of html then this might be a good alternative.

How do you create your immervision tours. Are we talking about flash?
If so you should know that no flash players can use files which are longer than 8291 pixels.
This was introduced with flash 9.0.115 in december 2007.
Immervision does support cubes strips and if you use that or any other single panorama file which has one side longer than 8191 pixels it will fail.

Unfortunatelly this is not documented by the flashplayers yet but it has been discussed a lot at flashpanoramas.com forum which is a very active forum where you always can get help with FPP viewer.

I've looked at ImmerVision's product line and found it confusing too.

I also have the problem with some virtual tours using the PURE Player not loading completely the first time.

I frequently have to reload the page.

I'm not sure what you need the Hotspots for, but I've lived without them for several years of virtual tours.

I've even avoided the lasted version of the iPIX Java Viewer because it won't run anything but the latest version of Java. By using the older 3.22 version, all versions of Java run my tours.

If and when I stop using iPIX, I'm planning on using the PTViewer 2.5 for much the same reason.

Henri,

Immervision uses .ivp files, but these are actually simple xml files that you can create in text editor. Saving your files as XML will work as well.

So, what you need is your panoramic image, the PurePlayer JAR file, an html file and the IVP/XML file. You set the parameters for PurePlayer.jar in the HTML file - one of which is the "panorama":

<param name="panorama" value="java.ivp" />

In this IVP file (can be XML, as I said) you set the image to be played, autorotation, etc.

There's no wonder one can spend ages trying to figure it out how it works, and it's a big shame that they can't write a couple of good tutorials to make things clear and save users many hours of frustration. Anyway, you can find some good advice in the documentation that you get if you buy Pure Starter Toolkit.

Thanks for the replies guys. What I'd really like is to continue using the G2 filebuilder beta program that I have. The problem with it is that it comes up with the Immervision splash screen that specifically states that it's beta software. Am I legally allowed to use it for commercial work and if so can I customize the splash screen?

I just like the way the Immervision app works. I don't mind upgrading to the PureTools but it seems that may not be a good idea.

I did buy FPP and I tried it once so far. It seems really easy, but I find their documentation a bit lacking too. I've also had some errors which I've not had the time to explore to see if it was me (I'm sure it is).

What is the simplest way to create basic tours? One like this: electronicmediaarts.com/z100/apartment.html#

I'm even having trouble with that. It doesn't seem to work on Firefox on a Mac.
