Help with Equipment
Posted: 12 May 2008 at 18:14 GMT
Hi, Im trying to get some proper equipment together to start shooting some panos. Ive done so in the past but have always used friends, or uniersities equipment.

Ive got myself a Canon 10D 2 hand quite cheap and Im now looking for a lens. Id ideally like a fisheye lens although I know theyre very expensive. Can someone give me some advice on Which fisheye lens would be appropiate, some examples of the prices and where I could get my hands on them either online websites, ebay, etc.

Cheers.

A few of your choices for Fisheye Lenses for a Canon mount are the;

Sigma 8mm f/3.5 US$650 +/-
Sigma 10mm US$700 +/-
Sunex 5.6mm US$800 +/- Sunex.com

If you're on budget you may consider the Peleng lens ($400)
with an m42 to EOS adapter here
www.rugift.com/photocameras/peleng_fisheye_lens.h...
or on e-bay

You may find very interseting the samples taken with Peleng lens on a Canon 10D available for download here

Prices from Hong Kong sellers on Ebay can offer considerable savings over UK prices, and some guarantee to reimburse any taxes that might be levied on the import. I have used UR Galaxy four times without any problems and haven't yet been asked to pay taxes on any of them. Delivery is around 1 week. Typical prices (inc shipping):

Sigma 10mm £340
Tokina 10-17mm £280
Sigma 8mm £330
