I'm confused - How Many Pics???

I am going to shoot a hotel tomorrrow in Santa Barbara California, www.casadelmar.com I plan on shooting several rooms where there will be four walls with one walling having a large window(s). In trying to learn this I am wondering how many photos to shoot? I have read the tutorials on this site but still am not sure.
1) When shooting interior panoramas in the day when walls have windows should I always BRACKET each image? If so that would mean I take 27 images no? 6x3 for the 360, 3 images of the zenith, and 6 images of the nadir?
I am using a D80 with a 360Adjuste and a Nikkor 10.5 mm lens.
2) Should I be shooting in RAW format? I use PTGUI If I shoot in RAW do I first open those in PS and then export them as jpgs to then be opened in PTGUI.
THANKS SO MUCH!

Tom Whatever "bracketing" you do has to be done for every shot/position you take that will be stitched in to the virtual image.
With the Nikkor 10.5mm it would be typical to shoot 6 shots around horizontal, plus a Zenith and Nadir shot, for 8 shots total to stitch into a full 360°x 360° scene.
If you're bracketing sets of 3 like +1,0 and -1, then you'll need 24 shots, 6+1+1=8 8x3=24
Personally, I don't think a bracket of 3 has enough range for many high and even medium contrast scenes like a hotel lobby with many windows
Shooting in RAW is up to you, I currently shoot in the highest quality JPEG setting and an happy with the results from my Canon XTi which is similar to your D80.
Good luck Doug Aurand Albuquerque, NM

Hi, Tom! I also use an Nikon D80 with 10.5 but on a NN3, soon to be upgraded, at least the rotator. I personally prefer and recommend to shoot in raw and then process in PS saving in Tiff. So you can process the image without loosing quality. I think that under the shooting situations you are telling us, there is supposed to be a lot of process involved. Last week I shoot a high scool building with a hall with different conditions. One side direct sunlight and the other dark. So I processed in raw with different settings trying to match in some way the different images. Shooting in raw offers you much more possibilities to correct the image. I almost never take an image of the nadir. At least not the way I think you mean. Once finished with 6 around and one up, if the lighting conditions allows it and the floor/ground also), I take the camera off the head and shoot handheld. In difficult conditions you have different ways to shoot the nadir, keeping it on the tripod. My nadir hole is actually the image of the NN3 rotator, so very small and easy to patch. Finally yes, process the raw images in PS and then open them in PtGui. Good luck tomorrow, Martin

Tom If you're not experienced at converting RAW images, I'd shoot the JPEGs so you have images that you can definitely use, assuming you know how to set exposures and white balance.
That way you know you have source photos that you can deliver the project from and get paid. I'm also assuming you're getting paid for this.
If you have time and enough memory, also shoot them in RAW and try to create the images from them first, then fall back to the JPEGs if you have to.

Right, the D80 gives you the chance to shoot in raw saving as well a jpeg image. Martin
