Just to give you the heads up, but there is a bug displaying cylindrical pans full screen in Quicktime. Your file will look like horrible. What size do you wish to display your pans and what lens are you using. Have fun Dylan

I suppose your question is about equirectangular panoramic images without a (java/qt/flash) viewer?
If it is a very wide panorama (for example a full 360-degree cylindric) -- the only way is make sure your vertical size (height) is small compared to width.
If your panorama is not that wide (in terms of angle-degrees) -- maybe this thread can help you: www.panoguide.com/forums/qna/4634/

With an 18mm you have a vertical FOV of 66. I assume you are using it on a 1,5 sensor
The best is to use the max zoom for default. 66 vertical FOV can be seeen also on widescreen without distortion.
The problem which Triggerhappy refers to is not a general problem. It is an old problem in Windows QTVR which may happen on some movies if you display them in a very wide aspect. I have a lot of cylindric movies at panoramas.dk especially from 2002 and 2003 and the problem is not at all general. What happens is that you get large bandings when you display them in proportions like 1 to 2 or larger. I have just tested in Windows and among 7 cylindric movies only one had the problem. And when I changed the proportions to normal aspect of a standard screen like 800x600 it dissapeard. I suspect that it is caused by using to few tiles also but even if we did a lot of tests on it back in 2003 we could not find a general cause to the problem except for th large aspect ratio.
You can also avoid it by making a cubic movie and just restrict the view.

Hiya Hans, I think the problem is also exasperated by vista and new'ish quicktime, nvidia video cards may also cause vista grief. I experimented with tile sizes etc etc in order to find a solution before to no avail. I have found it was only affecting the folks with wide screen aspect LCD monitors. They used to cost a bundle but now you can buy a 24 inch wide lcd for around $300, everyone is getting one, and now many of my qtvrs I was once proud of are now garbage.
