donate practice pictures

Who wants to donate a series off panorama pictures, shot with a 8mm. So we, the not yet owners of such a lens, can practice stitching them together.

In other words, I want to test while waiting on my sigma 8mm smile

Hi CoolMan,

I Second that. We can create some "practice kits" with all kind of lenses; I have the nikon 10.5 so we can download any kind of practice kits. But is a good idea to have a common place to upload them and a nice page to see some basic info on each practice kit. (all in the same palce). James can open a new section or? Ideas are welcome.

cheers,

I've put a zip archive of 6 Sigma 8mm f/3.5 images (4 around + n + z). Here:

www.johnhpanos.com/sigma8.zip (5MB)

They were taken for Dorin's stitchless pano exercise. They are of a size sufficient to generate a good 4000x2000 stitch, with PTGui's optimizer reporting an average cp distance of <1 and maximum <2. The nadir shot might seem surplus to requirements but will help to evaluate good lens parameters. Tell us how you get on.

Cheers for that, John

First experience I've had trying to stitch fisheye images, takes abit of getting used to the distortion but it went smooth enough, I think confused

Oender, Since I missed my chance to help Dorin, I will be happy to donate some hosting space, and the domain www.panopracticekits.com (or something like that) for the "Practice Kits", just let me know, and we can start that good idea (man, 2 good ideas in less then 1 month, are you ok?) cool

I would rather stay way from anything that has "pano" and "guide" on the same domain out of respect for this site, unless of course that James gives us permision to use it. blush

Hallo Henri,
feel free to use this set: www.vamos360.com/pleur/panoguide.rar
Shot with a peleng 8mm, canon 10d.
5 pics, 4 round + 1 top. Use your photoshop skills to do the floor. As you can see in the included mov file, I didn't do a very good job at that.
The pano is shot in a kitchen with tiles on all the walls. Good luck aligning the seams between the tiles wink It took me more time than I dare to admit here.
Succes,
Ronald

*edit: of course if someone else want to give it a shot, feel free to do so!*

Hi Shan!

Yea, that’s a very good offer!! I agree with you. Please register a domain to store all the Practice kits on the same place. Tell me what to do.

Cheers

Related Project:

The PanoTools forum has a workflow project in the works. So far there is a PTGui and Panoweaver workflow posted. There is a raw image section so folks can try the workflow for themselves. I would be happy to host on the server any contributions of raw image sets. If you have a workflow you would like to add to the project, it will be appreciated by all. The goal is place them on the PanoTools wiki when completed as a permanent home.

Nice to see you again find the time to advertice your own forum mister Spikowski. neutral

John, can you give some advice on the ptgui settings? I'm trying to stitch the sigma 8mm files together, but somehow the top image sets itself to low in the panorama and thus overides the horizon. And ad the bottom I can't get the BIG line to line up. sad

Vilmer, Good job on the panorama, i can't get 1 single line straight let alone all off them.

Sigh, if only I was better at this. cry

Henri, I've put a project file at www.johnhpanos.com/sampleproject.zip . It's for PTGui V7 Pro but should work with earlier versions.
