Over to flash?

Hi all. I may move all my panos to the much supported flash (before I have too many to convert). I wonder what you all think. Also does anyone have experience of Pano2QTVR new flash ver or does anyone use this, flashpanoramas.com/player/. I believe if the quality is there the flash format will have more of a future than QT VR. Comments welcome, thank you, John Goulding.

Have a look at Easypano's Panorama2Flash.
You can convert all your panos in a "click".... batch mode.
Also I found Panorama2Flash doesn't produce the wavy edges found in some Flash panos.

I just bought a licence for flashpanoramas so I can compare it with Pano2VR (links to some of my Pano2VR Flash9 results can be found in the Galleries section) . Let's see which is better (for the moment). I'll post a link when the new testpage is ready.

What I like about FlashPanoramas is that the images are kept external to the swf and referenced by XML plus useful scripting for hotspots etc. ... that appeals to me as a Flash developer. Pano2QTVR produces great quality (for Flash) but embeds the images resulting in a large swf file. I don't know about EasyPano ... perhaps someone else does.
cheers, Kevin

I made a (rather rough) testpage to quickly compare Flash Panorama Player output with that of Pano2VR Flash9 using the same cubefaces as sourcefiles. I filed them to a .jpg quality of 7 in PS CS2 to obtain roughly the same combined filesize as the single Pano2VR .swf No further optimizations like antialiasing were made (yet). Note: the Panorama Player full-screen button works locally on my PC using the stand-alone SWF viewer, but not in Internet Explorer.
Here are the links:
Flash Panorama Player version (2.86MB) www.erikleeman.com/FPP/en-07-08-19-Ewijk-Toolshed...
Pano2VR version (2.82MB) www.erikleeman.com/QT/en-07-08-19-Ewijk-Toolshed-... Select the Flash option to see the Pano2VR version.

Thanks all for your replies. The tests you have done seem very similar to me but i rather like the idea of using an xml file as i do with the gallery component i use in many of my clients site. They need the flash player to view that so would have it for the tours as well. I may go the flash route but do qtvrs for personal use or special occasions, not sure yet.(I do see a haze as the image moves in all the flash examples that i see.) Is there any interface as such for the flash viewer or do you just alter an xml file as per the instructions provided? Ho easily can it be adapted to suit the individuals use, bearing in mind my knowledge of flash is limited, thanks, John Goulding

Using Flash Panorams requires no knowledge of Flash ... it's all done by configuring the XML and putting files in the right structure ... easy peasy.

Thanks John ... I use a Flash component called ObjectVr which has an Actionscript API for programming interactivity.
