Can't see Quickime in IE
Posted: 22 Aug 2007 at 20:12 GMT
Hi everybody, got a small problem can't see to figure out. These 2 virtual tours won't open in Internet Explorer:

www.creatipix.com/lasaldelrey/trail.html
www.creatipix.com/lasaldelrey/drysaltlake.html

Works fine in Firefox. Don't know if it something in the html, but the html code is the same I always use, so don't know what it could be.

I did however notice that while using Pano2QTVR during the Spot in QuickTime section, I did receive an error message stating, "Class not registered. Possible cause: You need QuickTime 6.5 of higher to use this feature!"

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Omar

Omar, In both source files, you have an unmatched quotes character in the SRC "value" field where the .mov source file is defined.

Yup, I think that might have been it. I knew it had to be something really simple I was missing. I just checked on another computer & seems to be working fine now.

Thanks a bunch John!

Access to the server seems realllllly slow to me... downloaded the MOV at an average of 14Kb/sec
Apart from the speed, I don't have any problems to access this tour in Internet Explorer (version 7 with lastest QuickTime).

Omar,
There is something very wierd: With Opera the panorama in Trail.html takes for ever to download whereas Trail.mov takes seconds.
This could be significant in solving the problem.

Thanks Alexandre & Mark for taking the time to check it out.

Alexandre, not sure what's going on, it could be a problem with my server or html code, not really sure.

Mark, on Opera did the drysaltlake.html take forever also? Maybe somethings still up with my html causing the slow download.

As my good buddy Yoda would probably say, "investigate further on this I will" haha laugh

It looks to me that the problem is coming from Hostway. Maybe their server which hosts your site is overloaded, try to see from your control panel if you have a server status section or something like that...

I have emailed you with details of a ftp login on my server so you can upload there your tours to test them elsewhere, and show your hoster they have a problem wink

It might be an idea to use Firefox with a couple of web tools extensions. Two I use a lot are "IE tab" (allows switching to IE rendering to see if the page works in IE) and "Web Developer" which shows up errors with html, css and java components when looking at a web page. (very handy).

Thanks Alexandre for your offer, have just uploaded:

www.chablinet.com/magnafurious/drysaltlake.html
www.chablinet.com/magnafurious/trail.html

Thanks Ped, I'll have to check out Firefox's web tools extensions, seems like some pretty handy little guys to use.
