Stitching scenes with moving objects? Can it be done?

I need this because some of my panoramic shots include moving objects (clouds in a storm, raging river rapids). I don't think stitching software could handle this, although I have only assumed this.
I am pretty sure I remember seeing an ad for software that would convert a movie to a panoramic image. The movie would be a pan of a scene, side to side like normal just that it would not be separate frames. A movie would correctly capture quickly moving clouds as an example. Well OK a movie does have frames, just that it would have so many frames that water or cloud movement would not be such a problem.
Any ideas, suggestions?

Using Ptgui with smartblend you will be surprised how well the software can handle moving components. Sometimes it will fail and you will have to use a couple layers to mask out the bad bits but not to much effort.
Have fun Dylan

Hi, maybe what you are looking for is an "object movie". The same as if you grab an object with the mouse and make it turn it one or another dierction. I think and tell me if I am correct, what you are trying to do or show is a pan where in the scene at the same time are some objetcs moving, as you mentioned, clouds or water in a fountain or river. Now if you combine pan shots and time lapse, you will get it. Take the first shot, pan a few degrees, shoot again and so on. Later with a programm which creates object movies (Pano2QTVR)loading all the images you can create a movie where while you pan, objects will move also. In one or another direction. Remember that if you have cars or persons whose movement will be easy to recongize in the other direction they will walk backwards. In clouds or water, I think it will be harder to indentify. Now I have to leave, (a sunday "Asado" /barbecue) later I will try something out to show as an example.
Good luck, regards, Martin

ghiebert, sorry, any soft is not enough, whatever quality photos you will provide is just software, nothing more, a good panorama needs human judgement, if you want to make a pano any soft will do now I think, but if you want to do a good pano you need to learn how to do it, software like PTGui can provide you with psd file and all photos are put in layers, then you need to make them stitch properly using masks, otherwise you will always end up with a so so pano, one better, one worse - nothing more

Well, I supposed turning a movie into a panorama image wouldn't yield the best resolution, so I am content for the moment to try the smartblend option. Hey if it works, then I can take my time building the funds to get a digital swinglens panoramic camera. I will have to find a digital camera that takes pictures quickly. I noticed the little Kodak Z740 I am experimenting with takes ever slower pictures as I pan the scene. That can cause problems when some objects are moving.
