Blending and layers etc in Photoshop from PTGUI output
Posted: 16 Mar 2007 at 2:44 GMT
I'm having a hard time grasping how to output in layers for further blending in Photoshop. I understand how to actually output in layers from PTGUI, but i don't know what, then, to do with the layered files.

Is it possible to take the PTGUI blended result and then fix things like objects that have moved? In my case it's automobiles. Im getting a few half cars here and there and one big half a truck.

I searched the forums but couldn't find a complete explanation of this process, if it's even possible.

I spose i need a good run through from front to back on this technique..or a good tutorial.

Thanks,

Pete

Hi,

Try these:

homepage.ntlworld.com/j.houghton/pttute.htm
(go to tidying up the output image section near the middle of the webpage)

Blending with Smartblend will often correct errors due to movement of cars, etc. If you opt to use PTGui itself (rather than the Panorama Tools stitcher) to generate the layered output, you can have the blended result together with the individual image layers on top. The layer masks will be filled with black, so the layered images will not be visible (i.e. they are transparent). The idea is that you paint on the mask of a layer using a white brush to make parts of the image visible. There's a tutorial on the PTGui web site describing this process in more detail.
