Interesting. I'm still curious about that head.

Would love to take some panos with motion blur and this sounds like it could be the solution, in spite of the parallax errors...

I'd love to see some imnages before stitching to find out how big the problem actually is...

Anybody out there who can send me some????

You can find some sample images on the Agnos site, stitch and unstitch shots.

That is one hell of a setup to be sitting ontop of a monopod very surprised
How do you get yourself out of the shot?? eek!

I've been intrigued by the concept of capturing a complete 360-degree pano with one shot, and I have tried to stitch these images by Agnos. There are some problems with parallax for objects too close to the camera and also with blending, and control point generation, there's very little overlap. And if you used this system with Canon cameras that have a slightly smaller sensor (1.6x) it'll only be worse. I think two 5D's back to back with shaved 10.5 lenses will have a better chance of stitching a 360 pano due to the greater fov (>200 degrees) at about the same cost. Then again, I'm only guessing, I have not tried any of these systems in real life.

Yup if you follow his links to the gondolor panorama I wouldn't have been brave enough to balance four or five kilograms on top of a monopod in an open boat.

Incidentally I posted it more out of interested window shopping, its an impressive collection of bits all together, rather than value. I reckon hes asking slightly more that it would cost to buy it all new.

I imagine the problems with stitching with it are outwayed by the fact that as they are all the same you can presumably batch all your panos effortlessly. And presumably anything far enough away is fine.

Its nice to know too at least one of them was sold and exists in the wild.

Yeah, I know the images from the Agnos site - if you use the pole it makes it a lot easier because you don't have anything too close to camera, so the parallax error will be a lot smaller - that's why I didn't bother trying them - the panos I want to take will be about 70cms off the ground.

Bravo: two 5d's with shaved 10.5mm won't give you 360 Spheres - you'll need three, or two Sig 8mm.

I've been thinking of trying 3 5d's with shaved 10.5mm, but since it would mean a substantial investment I really would like to know if it actually works.

Does anybody else out there have another idea of how to do motion blurred Panos???

Chris,

thanks for giving away your secret ideas!

that motion blur sounds fascinating!
neutral to no blur in front and back, with motion all around!
(with a moving camera [or three])

seems like to do a full sphereical would require three cameras

I would love to see someone develop a viewer that 'motion blurs' the image as you change your POV.....

Probably can do that with Flash.
