Does the startup equipment from Ipix work with other fisheye software? Like Panoweaver. I want to use the rotator and lens from Ipix but want to escape the software and cost. Is this legal?

i try to stay away from the legality area, but I do most definitely believe that the images produced work with any spherical software, like Panoweaver for example. However, I think you could get a better setup at a better rate if you bought non-Ipix. I did a lot of research, and through the help of some great advice (thnx smooth!) ended up with the following setup:
coolpix 5000 agnos mRotatorA manfrotto 3001BN kaiden quicktilt leveler Panoweaver
I think it works very well for the price range.

Thanks Steve, I have a Canon G5, do you have a link to the agnos site? I found one on google but it was all in italian. I'm not sure which one to get.

Hi, I would recommend that you only purchase the IPIX rotator directly from IPIX. You can get the camera and fisheye lese and appropriate adaptor cheaper elsewhere. The IPIX Interactive Studio software is very good, being fast and flexible when stitching 2 fisheye hemishphere shots. However, the software is quite expensive compared to alternatives.
The IPIX rotator, as you may be aware, is camera specific and just enables the camera to be accurately turned 180 degrees. There is no reason why you could not use an alternative pano head from Manfrotto etc, and use that with the IPIX software.
