Your new camera for shooting panos - S3 Pro or D200?

S3 pro with upgraded buffer, naturally.
Thanks to the series of nice panos shared by Matt (from 360precision - have a look at the Gallery) I could evaluate from the point of panographer's veiew the most critical parameter of D200 - the dynamic range. And... I am not so happy with the way D200 treats the highlits. Beyond DR all other parameters are great - color rendering, resolution.
I plan to buy new camera and just can't deside if I should pick D200 for it's build quality and resolution or S3Pro because of it's superiority in DR (crucial for shooting action panos, when it is impossible to bracket).
What do you think?

There’s an interesting discussion here : forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1020&me...
D200 - 11.3 stops in RAW at ISO 100
Fuji S3Pro - 9.7 stops in Wide-2 jpeg - ISO 100 12.3 stops in RAW at ISO 100
No conclusion about panoramic photography, though …

rainer k. lampinen-who owns all kind of filmcameras and rotating pancams is shooting with finepix f10, f810 and s3-pro. and producing big prints 80x100cm. he will use f-11. if s3-pro could only handle older nikon-lenses(no metering). i dont know yet if new zeiss manual focus lenses could do that. 35/2.0 is the widest announced. more will be shown at photokina. two more beside 50/1.4- 85/1.4-35/2.0-60/2.0 macro. all are improved compared to old c/y. i have used them since 26 years. superbe in filmcameras.you must see to believe-razorsharp and can handle difficult light situations. we will see how good they are in digicams like s3-pro. price is low(2500 chf in switzerland). i will wait and see what will come from sigma. sigma/foveon or sigma/kodak. FF? there are issues with the protector and imagequality using other than sigma-lenses. we will see if sigma will bring out high-end digital glass.

This is the 64 million dollar question. Having used both cameras I say you need both. If I had to choose just one I'd have to go for the D200. The speed, huge buffer and bracketing options leave the S3Pro for dead. Also, working with 24mb RAW files becomes tedious when you don't really see any benefit.
Other features of the D200 include, the awesome battery, wifi capability and GPS receiver. None of which are available on the S3Pro. I'd also feel much more comfortable trusting a D200 without needing a back-up camera. The Fujis are just too fragile for my liking. I've used an S2Pro for years now and have had to on 3-4 occassions reshoot a job due to a camera issue.
Another deciding factor for me is support for a manufacturers RAW format. I can't see Apple supporting the S3Pro in OS X and this for me is a big deal. Fuji's own software isn't that great and Fuji's upgrade policy is even worse.
Your comment about situations where it's impossible to braket intrigue me. OK, maybe scenes where there's movment etc but extra DR is typically needed in windows, lights or bright sunshine. And I can't see how movement in a scene can effect the above ?
