0-360 and Speedlights/Flashes
Posted: 4 Jan 2006 at 11:52 GMT
Hey Guys, i have done a search and havent found a viable solution just yet, any ideas will be appreciated.

I have put an example of what i am trying to acheive, at www.inceptionwebcreations.com.au/flashsamples/

I really want to find a way to balance light inside with the light outside, as a photographer with a real estate agent, its easy to take crisp photos with the flash to balance light - but i want to apply this to my 0-360 photography.

SETUP
- Nikon 8800 with 0-360 optic, SB-600 Speedlight (flash)

WITHOUT FLASH - Obviously with this example i havent quite balanced the exposure, however there is a fair bit of blow-out with the light through the windows.

WITH FLASH - I pointed the flash DOWN, because it sticks out too far, when its UP the light gets caught in the mirror.I havent used a proper reflector board, simply a white piece of paper that i made into a cone, i found that when it was a cone it reflected the light alot broader than a board straight back up.

IDEAS - An idea i had was to get an extension cord and mount the flash out of vision to the mirror. Or a similar idea was to get a remote unit and put the flash on-top of the 0-360 and fire up to the roof and light the room that way.

examples again at www.inceptionwebcreations.com.au/flashsamples/

Cheers - keep up the good work everyone

Have you tride wide/soft flash units, mounted to the tripod, behind and above the camera. This way the flash rotates with the tripod, but is far enough back that it does not get captured in the image? I have one that's slave triggered. I have the flash on in the camera, and that triggers the primary flash (I need to pick up a hot-shoe extension.)

I use a Interfit eFlash (here's a link I found -
www.morrisphoto.co.uk/manufacturer~categoryid~132... )

Very wide, plus you can make an array out of them. Plus plus - inexpensive!

They are designed to hot-shoe mount, so making a clamp for the rotator base, camera back, ets. is easy. Or you can just hand-hold it.

This looks great. I was getting frustrated as i wanted to try extension cords and slave units, however I had to order everything in and i couldnt do so just to test it out.

I will have to look into this, Have you got any examples that you can show??

After doing some deeper research on the eyesee360 forum, I read about the DRI Plugin, I have recently purchased The DRI plugin from fredmiranda.com. and have found it to be a very effecient way of processing the photos.

Thanks for the heads up on that i will be looking into it deeply, love to see your examples.
