How was this done

I have been making fun circles with the advice from a tutorial on this site, but how are these done? Is it just plugging in funky #'s in the re-wrap or cropping some of the image off first and then pasting onto a new sky? And like this one how is the pole so tall? Brilliant stuff on the site by the way! (I actually started my panoramic addiction trying to do the circles on my home page www.dylansurridge.com ) Have fun Dylan

Wow! What a rich idea!
The 'normal' version can be found in my "Boring stuff" post.
Fellas, thank you for inspiration!

yes, this can also be easily done with photoshop 7 using a spherical image:
convert the image from rectangle to square; ie., if an image is 6000 x 3000, then change it to 3000x3000.
then, flip it 180 degrees
then, goto filters-distort-polar coordinates and choose rectangular to polar....voila!
for an even cooler look....do the last step twice:

Ahh i think i now understand my problem. I have been making these over this past year, but am shooting to low to get the desired effect. I have been using the panotools method and am happy to learn about another photoshop version.( same results )
This is from last year, I hate the amount of land in the bottom and was hoping for a method to emulate the other samples. Off to reshoot, Can't wait for the sun to come up! Have fun Dylan

Hey TH - good work! If you want to lessen the ground - while the pano in is the normal mode just crop that portion of the ground out before applying effects.

Excellent David! love the branch effect after your pinching. Now if we can realize the after effects BEFORE we shot we could compose some great shots like seen here.
