I believe the actual Nodal Point is about 4cm behind the gold ring. Using the gold however as your mark should work fine (at least it has for me). cheers Bill

I think that 4cm would be way off. Looking at my setup on a D100, it is close to the golg ring. There are many examples of working out the NP on this and other sites. I suggest setting it about the gold ring and having a glass of red when you shoot. Perhaps a nice Australian Coonawarra.
Have a look at Andrey's hand helds with this setup. They are better than mine when using a pano head and spending hours optimising the NP. But John is correct, it seems to change when shooting 6 or 8 shots for the horizon.
