Any Canon camera with the in-camera lens correction user here?

Hi, kindly ask if someone has experience with in-camera lens correction; wich camera? As there suppose to be room for adding extra lens data..
cpn.canon-europe.com/content/education/infobank/d...
I have two questions:
1) can you add any Canon lens data? supposedly yes..
2) can you add third party lens data?

thanks,
Dorin

I use it enabled on my Canon L 17-40mm lens when fitted to my Canon 7D and 5DMKII. Both these models only support Peripheral Illumination not Chromatic Aberration.

I have never attempted to write a correction module via DPP as it is not my favoured editing program. But maybe I should look at it once again.

By default the Canon f/2.8 15mm Fisheye is not one of the Canon supported lenses and nor is the Canon L f/4.0 8-15mm Zoom Fisheye.

How about distorsions for the 17-40mm? is that corrected in-camera, especially at 17mm? or, being an rectiliniar L is not needed, thus unnavailable for selection..

There is NO in camera distortion correction for any lens. Only Chromatic Aberration and Peripheral Illumination and even the Chromatic Aberration option is ONLY available with 5DMKIII and above.

I don't think this is what you were hoping?

Smooth, currently I'm working on improving my stitchless technique toward rectiliniar lens, it requires distorsion corection made either at conversion from RAW which is possible via batch conversion using DPP or in-camera if available i.e. having as input rectiliniar jpegs out from camera, distorsion, vignetting and CA corrected.

An working example will be published in few days. Unlike the stitchless with fish eyes, with rectiliniar lens it requires tripod and as precise and leveled panohead you can get.
So far, the D3L rotator and a NN3 with nadir adapter* seems to be the rig for a small DSLR.

As this kind of correction is camera's processors feature I think that even the smaller future DSLRs from Canon might have it, a corrected JPEG can be saved from camera directy on internet (through, say, eye-fi card) the benefits for high resolution and gigapixell panos will be huge.

cheers,
Dorin

*the nadir adapter is not really required if there is a central bubble spirit level on the rotator.

Seems that a Kaiser bubble spirit level as lower rail railstop make no need for the nadir adapter in the case of a small DSLR.
