Yes is amazing, I'm sure there will be some from Curiosity but is better to wait a bit, the dust cover from high resolution camera will be pulled out in the days comming, the later the better as the very landing of the rover produced a little dust storm which can last ..

We have to take this with no hurry, Curiosity is one ton fullsize rover
www.livepanoramas.com/NASA-curiosity/pano_flash.h...
is smart but not fast, if you walk you go 15-20 times faster than its top speed for example, in two years mission it will cover about 19 km.

About panoramas my first impulse was to say than any true panorama from Mars must use either one shoot or my stitchless technique.
One cannot blend images from Mars!
But if I would said that I was wrong because form Mars 3D is also mandatory, so that left only one choice:
the stitchless. Is just a matter of when.

cheers,

A quicky here: flashificator.com/1/PanoMars/

I am really looking forward to new imagery from Mars... it is a planet that has fascinated me ever since I was a child, and that fascination has not worn off by growing older (probably holds true for most people).

I just passed 500,000 unique visits on my Greeley Haven panorama.
www.panoramas.dk/mars/greeley-haven.html

That is for today only. Its currently going all around the world on Twitter , Facebook and hundreds of linksites.
You may need to wait in the que for a minute, with 50.000 hits an hour it sometimes stalls.

BTW the Arounder Mars panoramas are also "made by me."

The cameras on the Rovers (also the new one) are just 2 mp so you need a lot of images to stitch the high resolutions. No way to use stitchless to make a decent one. But actually one of the panos I have made is from a one shot.
This Black and white from 2004.
www.panoramas.dk/fullscreen3/f2_mars2.html

As you can see no stitching involved . Just my artificial sky. I consider this one the best I have done from the NASA images.

I compared resolution given by the mastcam 100(343mm not 270 since it used a further crop). at 210cm closest distance it can resolve impressive 0.15mm pre pixel.
can this be compared with film? if yes here is my calculation.
with 80mm lens at 200mm i get 18mm resolution which the same like this marslens can achive.
But my film is MF, almost 5x higher.
that means a five-row-panorama is needed the get similar resolution. it its very very sharp. I hopein the near future i can make a testshot at the same location with sigma dp2m which is about the same FL equiv.
only one row is needed with this chip if comparison with marslens could be made.

I congratulated Hans to for the achivement in the past and I'm happy to join now to the chorus and congratulate him again.
With no doubt Hans's panoramas from Mars are true milestone in panorama history.
One, me included, can say "I know how it looks like to be on Mars" due to Hans's work.

Congrats!
