360 StreetView Rig - DIY Project

Hi all
For some time now I have the idea to create a streetview rig. Means a panorama head that automatically films video or all x-meters a panorama which can be shown like in google streetview.
My company now has an internship and we would like to invest in this project.
The main objective
Creating a open source streetview Rig.
We are looking for people whom would be interested to participate either financially or better and prefered, intelectually by help in the software and hardware problem solving.
Are there any of you interested?
Some project highlights so far
Progress publishing in a public webpage + downloads on sourceforge
Mission timeframe : 2-4 Weeks
Hardware to use: Available in online stores
Assembling : Hardware to define but more focus on functionality then design
Total Rig cost (including PC) : not exceeding 2000$

Thanks for pointing this out as I didn't want to mention it first.
That project seems fine and started as a open source diy project.
I figured out that that guy is now selling his solution only.
No trace of previous source community knowledge is left. So what is the benefit of using the knowledge of the crowd and then using it for sole personal enrichment.
We would be more then willing to learn and give back something, improve performance but how to...
If we want a open source streetmap rig The project has to rebegin sadly ...
But if there are people knowing valuable links or who participated in some projects like these:
Their knowledge and input would be invaluable and could help us push this project out real fast and making it available for the masses or @ least pano passionates like we are.
Our final result would be a step by step guide on how to
a) create the rig
b) create/install setup server hardware
c) create/install streetview software using google AND openstreetmap
d) publish all online
Sounds like a lot of fun and challenge to me.
pls share your comments and thoughts.

I have started the same project and have built a camera rig. I have not made great progress on software, but have plans  I will PM you.
