stalwart said: hi all,
Stuck between these 2 lens for my EF-S 550D. Anyone got any matching sets of images using these lenses for comparison. PM me please. Which would you choose, and why?
Canon EF 15mm f/2.8 www.canon.co.uk/For_Home/Product_Finder/Cameras/E...
or
Sigma 15mm f2.8 EX DG www.sigma-imaging-uk.com/lenses/wide/15mm.htm
thanks
Stu
Why do you want a 15mm lens? Are you planning to upgrade to a 5D or other fullframe camera.?
The 15mm fisheyes are both great for a Fullframe like 5D but with your APS 550 you need to do multirow. You need a Tokina 10-17mm if you want to get as few images as possible with better resolution than a Sigma 8mm.
You do not get much benefit from the fisheye effect at 15mm. You could just use the 10-22 at 14-15mm.

Hi Hans,
Yep - hoping later this year to upgrade to 5D MkII so will use my Sigma 8mm and then 15mm too.
The 10-22mm for my cropped-sensor 550D is a stop-gap and for realtor interior WA shots as it doesn't produce too much barrel distorition.

Stuart,
a while ago we already had this discussion. The canon 15mm is no longer available. Check your canon website. It is replaced by 8-16mm zoom lens. Resellers can not order it anymore. In NL no one has one in stock anymore.
May be you can find one on ebay.

Thx Smooth,
It should have been 15mm instead of 16.
Basic info of my message was: you do not have to think about a Canon15mm lens because it is no longer available in EU by normal resellers.

The Canon 15mm fisheye lenses are certainly getting very thin on the ground in the UK, but a few can still be found - e.g. 7 in Bonnie Scotland here: tinyurl.com/7dmsrmt .
