Question for Nick

Nick:
I would ask this on your forum but I can't seem to log in! Does your mini adapter plate for the Quick release mini adapter come in a model with a 1/4" threaded hole ( vs. 1/4" threaded male )? I would like to be able to put it on my monopod's 1/4" threaded male fitting. Also, for anyone who has used this system, are you satisfied with its safety, keeping in mind the thousands of dollars worth of gear entrusted to it?

Hi Tim,

The male end of the NN mini-adapter has a hole to attach to your monopod screw. The female part attaches to your camera or pano bracket.

I use a mini-adapter on my pano pole. I haven’t had any problem with mine, but security rests on a single thumb screw. If that screw gets jostled and loosened, the adapter sections separate. It only takes about a 10˚ turn of the thumb screw to separate the sections.

I give the thumb screw a security check before raising the pole each time.

It’s less secure than most quick release plates I’ve used where, if the screw becomes loose, pins prevent sliding and keep the plates from immediately separating.

I personally would not trust the mini-adapter on a pole with a high-end pro camera and glass. (I probably wouldn’t trust the pole, either.)

As Judy mentioned it's wise to check for tightness of the thumb screw before raising the pole.

To alleviate the concern of a camera falling then a tether between the camera and pole can be added.

Hi Tim,

I will ask forum admin to see what is going on with your login. Maybe you forget the password.
About the quick Mount mini adapter, it only works for our poles and rotators or other accessories that the anti-twisting pin an be used. Sorry for not making it clear. I will spend time on the manual for our products this year.
