Panoramas.dk Flashpanoramas is now Flash 10

FPP Flash Panorama Viewer yesterday upgraded the viewer for flash 10.
This means a quality which is comparable to Quicktime or DevalVR

I have upgraded the viewer at panoramas.dk
Here is a page showing you the difference.

admin-rights or not for flashplayer?
Posted: 17 Oct 2008 at 10:28 GMT
what is still unclear is the fact that for some tasks(e.g. youtoube) admin-rights are needed to install flashplayer but not on some panorama-sites.
what are the secrets to use flashplayer for panoramas without the need of administrator-rights?
btw: devalvr does NOT NEED admin-rights? but java does and qtvr. thanks

Good news, but my question is: can I install both the Flash 10 and 9 clients easily on my machine ?

I'd like to use v10 to enjoy panos that I watch, but still use v9 to be sure that the panos I make are ok for viewers who only have v9...

Any idea ?

If you are on Windows just install Flash 10 for Firefox and keep 9 for IE.
Windows uses different installations for IE and for Firefox, Netscape, Opera

I just checked it to be sure it still works that way for 10.

Hey Hans,
Keeping up with the times is good for any website (IMO) - guess many will follow the same eventually. Your website must be challenge to maintain given the shear size.
Good work.

I still see better results using SPi-V and DevalVR after upgrading to Flash 10. The lines are better than in Flash 9 like you show on your website but panning still isn't as smooth as the other players.

philip, it depends on your equipment and platform, on my mac spi-v looks worse in the panning than everything, quicktime looks better on pc than mac, so flash now looks better than quicktime and spi-v on mac. deval isn't on mac but afaict deval almost always loosk too anti-aliased. java moves nicely on mac but the image quality suffers.

i've updated my site too pdxvr.com i'm quite pleased how easy it was - just one file to replace, no hassle, no thinking, no editing of code or anything but a simple upload

there seem to be some rendering issues and i hope they get ironed out soon. i am also wondering if there are settings that help ease the load on my cpu, but i think the settings will have to remain the same until most flash 9 users update.

Flash is located at C:\windows\System32\Macromed\Flash if you change the ocx files for internet explorer and the xpt and dll files for firefox and netscape browsers then those applications should use them. Adobe has old versions of flash on their website so if you dig out the required files you can manually swap them over and change your flash version that way.

Firefox also has an extension called "flash switcher" which when installed will swap your firefox flash version for you. However it does not come with version 10 so you have to manually copy your version ten files into its folder (specified in its settings) for it to use it. Otherwise when you switch from version ten it will have no copy to switch back with. Obviously internet explorer uses the active x ocx files so this has no effect on it.

Hope that makes some sense. Basically just poke around and see where files are and its fairly clear. Seems to work for me anyway. Very handy if you wish to see how well a website is dealing with out of date surfers.

I noticed that in the new flash 10 the panning using the arrow keys is possible.
Is there a possible zoom in/out too? with which keys?

Yes it does. At least on Mac
Same keys as in Browser mode.
Shift zoom in
Alt (PC) zoom out
"Apple" key on Mac for zoom out.

You may also notice that panning in Fullscreen is much smoother than in Browser Window.
This might be a special Mac effect but I also heard it from PC users.
The difference becomes larger the larger resolution you have for the panorama in the Browser window.

Thank you Hans.

If a PC user can confirm zooming in/out using keys in fullscreen that will be nice.

I just checked in XP on my MacBook
Only arrow keys work in fullscreen.

Zoom only work in Browser window.
And I was wrong the Zoom out key on PC is CTRL.
