In a Persian Market Place

At present in Tehran back from Shiraz and Esfahan and I've got to be quick before the open wireless router I've gatecrashed goes off line again. Very inconsiderate neighbour, whoever he or she may be. I only hope he/she does not secure his/her network.
Iran is nothing like we are led to believe - especially by the Western Media. Having a great time and eating too much. Here's the Persian Market Place

No pixel counting please, but otherwise look forward to your views.
Be warned: There's a lot more to come once I've got around to processing the hundreds, if not thousands, of individual shots I've taken.
Regards of everyone,
Mark

Mark,
I visited Esfahan a couple of times around 1976-1977 and went to the bazaar there as well. Your panoramas bring back memories. It seems the bazaar hasn't changed in 30 years. Thanks for sharing.
I'm really looking forward to see your other panoramas from Iran.

Fascinating images Mark, but I'm afraid the light was too tricky. Probably a bracketed exposure would be more convincing and a lot of photoshopping afterward...
Looking forward for your next panos.
regards, Valentin

Great stuff Mark!
You captured the atmosphere perfectly, (I was out in Iran in the days of the Shah). I don't know how you managed to cope with such dark places and people walking around.
I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of your Iran shots.
Cheers,
Pete

Thanks guys. Sorry no time for sophisticated stuff like bracketing. My crowd technique is six around then weight for something/someone interesting to come along and, click - take a few more shots and choose the best of them. Call it 'artistic license' - or laziness, but I did warn, 'no pixel counting'. Incidentally with the camera wound up to ISO 1600 and the lens at its maximum f/4 a lot has to be left to Camera RAW postprocessing.
Glad some of you guys have been to Iran/Esfahan before. Pete, I worked in Iran during the Shah's day too. Only thing that's changed in the bazaar is the portrait hanging from the ceiling. It suddenly got a beard.
Well the bazaar hasn't changed much but towns have really grown. Tehran must fast be catching up with Mexico City. It was quite small in the early 70s and I used to drive everywhere. Now it has ten million people, all of whom seem to be on the intra city expressways at the same time driving at 120 kph, bumper to bumper and rear view mirror to rear view mirror. Don't think I could drive here now. As a passenger, Valium might help.
Apart from that, Pete and Leonart, you would love it, and the girls are still beautiful and just cover there heads outdoors sufficiently to keep the clergy happy. They bend the rules in order to comply with the rules. I've just extended my visa for another month.

Thanks...Great to see these on-the-ground views...
About the previously mentioned shadows, as you know if shot in RAW there are a lot of options to bring out more detail, should that be desired, without having to resort to HDR with the added time/storage overhead.
Regards, Ed

Ed, You may be right. Perhaps when I am back home with a fast internet connection I could send you a set of the RAW files I used for the bazaar panorama. You can then tell me how to improve them. Contact you in a months time if that's OK. Mark

Ed and All,
Ed, you were right but the trouble was the LCD on my laptop which needed re-calibrating.
Hope the new version is an improvement.
I have added another panorama with an old fellow who has just spotted the camera in it. I hope you like him as much as I do (whoever he is).
And the link to the now modified index page
