Cyprus tour

Just put a page together of panos from a recent trip to Cyprus www.bhphoto.biz/cyprus/index.html

All shot on a 5D with Nikon 10.5 FE in a BoBracket and mounted on a lightweight Manfrotto monopod. I've still got a couple of issues with either flex of the lens/body adaptor or possibly focus and I'm still not completely happy with VP insertion either - not helped when working in restricted space or with low angle sun either. Cloudless blue skies were nice but resulted in fairly large file sizes to avoid compression artifacts.

hi irieman,

sorry it seems there is a problem on your page: after selecting the pano it comes an 404 page error.

from the thumbs I'd say pictures are interesting and the places charming.

Valentin

That's very odd - other people that I have emailed the link to directly aren't having that problem. Is anyone else getting that error? Could you let me know?

Many thanks

The tour is working,
is true if someone have no quicktime installed, i.e. after a fresh XP instalation, the page not found error is raised, maybe a note under download QT banner will help, a note like: if you can't see the content please check if QT...

Also you might change "My Title Page" with the actual title of the featured content for each pano.

thanks for sharing,
Dorin

Nice work. Thanks for the tour.
Is it hot there?
I like the cat sleeping on the bench.

Thanks to all for pointing out my titling errors - the joy of Pleinpot, so easy to use - unfortunately so easy that if you rush it you make stupid mistakes blush

Yes David, it was very hot but thankfully no humidity to speak of.

I like how you shot the mediterranean sky without lossing details.
Nice work - worth of imitation.

Hope to increase my quality with my gear this year down there.

Hi Mike

Really just a case of not overcompressing the mov file - which is why they are quite big downloads. I used a 6000x3000 equirect and as I recall a setting of 51% jpeg compression in Cubic Convertor. It might have been a little less. That's the beauty of CC you can see the result as you try and squeeze the file size down.

It's always a compromise - sometimes adding blur to the sky can help but usually I am just very careful with the amount of sharpening added ( I use a layer with a high pass filter blended in Hard Light and the adjust the blend weight) and then play with compression settings. An even blue tone like that produces the most problems.
