wow!

I suppose you used a 8000 ISO and still there is a remarkable saturation of colors and lack of noise. The people are so charmed by the action of the film... not noticing the shooting of another great pano!
I see the colors of the film are good - could it be possible to be a presentation with some light.

I always enjoy and admire your panoramas.

hats off!

A technical feat, but even assuming we have Andrey's skills, could we do something similar in the UK or are our hands tied by political correctness gone mad? Well can we, and what about other countries?

Valentin,

Thank you for your comment!
My setup was D200 + Sigma 8/f3,5 + radio remote (you can see the transmitter in my hand) + NN3
The exposures were very long, approximately 30 seconds - yes, ISO 8000 would be a great advantage, but D200 doesn't let to shoot at such ISO wink
RAW processed with ARC 4, stitched with PTGui (naturally) and postprocessed with PS CS3.

Mark,
What is wrong with this pano from the point of view of political correctness? smile

30 seconds!!
That movie must have bored the people to sleep because there's harldy any movement smile
I'm confused why the screen is not blurred. I can live with you holding your beard for 30 seconds, but surely there must have been some movement on the screen?

I think what Mark means is that attempting to photograph people watching a movie in UK cinemas would be frowned upon, especially without their consent.

Quite opposite! People are totally absorbed and long exposures helped to get all eyes opened - the blink wastoo short in comparison with the period when eyes were opened smile
The screen was 'repaired' with the screenshot fom one of the films, forgot to say - it was not blurred, it was heavily overexposed. Actually the whole hall was lit only by the light reflected from the screen, it was VERY dark.

Sorry for off topic, but I can't resist to the urge to share youtube links to some films from this event, they are brilliant:

Hi I recently have the opportunity to shoot in such extreme condition in an assigment on which I dared to say at the phone that the light condition is no problem for me, but I didn't even guess.. , sorry I can post anything but it was so dark as I cannot managed to see my camera and at widest openned aperture my Canon suggested that bulb exposure will be ok smile so I did exposed about 45 seconds as ages ago I numbered in the dark room when I expose the photo paper, you know 1001, 1002, ..1045

Like in this excellent example by Andrey the smallest light there tourn out overexposed. Gus if you look at the Andrey's glasses you will get an idea how the screen look like.

Thank you for sharing your very good work and nice to see you again Andrey!

I might add, without written consent from each and everyone in frame.

And here is an example of extreme PC (you see Andrey, it even has an abbreviation all to itself now). A school headmistress posted a group photograph on the Web, but not before covering each child's face with a happy face. sad

I have had the police interfere with my amateur photoshoots in public places on two occasions. Mobile phone cameras and point-and-shoots are OK but the fact that I have a big black Canon beasty and tripod is evidence that I am either a terrorist, or worse still a paedophile, and am likely to bring the Nation to its knees by posting pictures of Christmas lights in London.

Again - anyone else had similar experiences here in the UK or elsewhere?

I had the very same thing happen to me during a local street festival. The local help hounded me as I took pictures. I went to the local police department and they informed me that I was in my right to take pictures. Later that evening the event organizer found me a apologize to me for the actions of his volunteers.

Dear friends,

I had a few years ago some similar experience : a stupid bodyguard drove me away from a walk passage near a bank; they surely considered my beard a dangerous threat to that and I felt like s..t.
Meanwhile I learned the places where taking photographs is forbidden are marked with specific signs on the cost of the city hall (or county). Furthermore in Germany I understand there is a law about freedom to take pictures in public places. Do you know its content or maybe its applicability?
