Hotel Sample project

Hey guys, just thought I'd offer a look into this work in progress. It's one of my first stabs at this, so would appreciate any constructive criticism. There are a few small issues with the photography, but I'm not gonna point them out just yet. It's only a sample, hence some generic text scrolling across the screen.

Very nice pano, some nice colours. I found the mouse behaviour a bit strange, probably because Im used to being able to drag it around on screen. Images can benefit from a bit of sharpening, more visible in fullscreen mode. Some minor stitching errors probably not visible to the untrained eye. If I was a paying customer, I would be very happy.
Keep it up. Is there a big demand in Dubai? gus

dear tusk, i am fully agree with gus except the fullscreen suggestion.
as per my view if you are doig this as commercial project dont produce fullscreen as they give so much of distortion on wide screens.
btw you are on perfect track using 3dvist to produce flash tours as this is the only software i love for flash. as i do have almost all good production software like tourweaver, panoweaver, pano2qtvr, flash panoramas plyaer, immervision, 3dvista publisher and soon getting show3,
keep it up. mak www.vox360.in

Thanks gus,
Not sure what you mean with the mouse behaviour? AFAIK it's still click & drag on the screen, same as your (excellent) limo ones.. What do you find it's doing that's strange? I agree on the sharpening, but didn't want to overdo it, I'm still experimenting.
Not really big in demand here yet, but anything can happen. It's all in the marketing..
Atomicmac, thanks for the input, but what do you agree with gus on? Is it the strange mouse behaviour, or that you'd be happy if you were a paying customer? Fullscreen is automatically integrated as part of the Show 3 software, so may as well use it - I have a widescreen display as well & distortion doesn't really look any better or worse than the skin. Thanks for looking!

Mouse behaviour: when I try to click near the top of the screen to drag down, the image drags up not down. It seems to want to drag in the direction of the quadrant the cursor is on. Try dragging to the left by click and dragging somewhere on the right of the image. (first on your, then on mine) and you'll see the difference. If that sounded confusing, wait for this: I said "images could benefit from sharpening, (which is) more visbile in fullscreen". Mak misunderstood this, understandebly because of the sentence structure, to mean "pano will be more visibile (better) in Fullscreen mode", hence his comment he does not agree with my fullscreen suggestion. Mak is quite right, because presently I have my HTML to open the page 100% width, 100% height, which is not ideal for widescreen monitors. (apparently, I havent actually seen it on widescreen)
So I plan on changing my HTML code on my page from: var so = new SWFObject("files/pano.swf", "pano", "100%", "100%", "9", "#282828"); To this: var so = new SWFObject("files/pano.swf", "pano", "1024", "768", "9", "#282828");
Which will open in a fixed size window regardless of monitor size.

There is absolutelly no distortion on fullscreen. Not even on my 32" LCD which I use as second monitor for testing. It has a very wide screen 1360x768 and as you viewer is not changing the horisontal FOV there is no distortion.
All flash viewers do it in a way which makes them better for wide screens than Quicktime which has a Vertical default FOV. FPP has options for both vFov and hFov and as default uses a relative zoom factor which also does not give you more distortion on widescreens.
You can see an illustration of how Quicktime and java are different here. www.panoramas.dk/quicktime/qtvr/distortion/
I would perhaps use slightly higher resolution for fullscreen but the fullscreen gives you so much extra immersion that it is a pity not to use the option.
However I agree with Gus that the panning behavior is not good. Check if 3Dvista has another option for panning.

I agree with the comments about the mouse pointer interaction, every 3DVista tour has this problem. It just doesn't behave as nicely as every other panorama viewer and comes across as amateur. The other thing I don't like is the advertisement for 3Dvista on the loader. But it's not just 3DVista, now Pano2VR Flash and Flashpanoramas has right click menu ads.
and before they jump in and say it's just an acknowledgment for the developer. I say then it doesn't need a hyperlink to a product that's for sale. (It's an advertisement!)
Tour itself is quite good and if the clients happy and you have the cash - well your done!

Cool, thanks for the feedback guys. I get what you're saying about the mouse behaviour. It doesn't bother anyone but us hardened panographers though, who play around with several types of software. A client using this for the first time doesn't have anything to compare it to, & seem to get the hang of it pretty quick I've found. Personally I find it easier, but maybe I'm just used to it & we can't all like the same things.
I'm also not happy about the advertisement Smooth & I'm working on that. It's gone on a private branding page I have, but then I'm advertising MY logo, which is not my goal either. I just want a neutral loader. Work in progress, but like I said it's my first stab at this. Thanks again - all comments taken on board. (Even yours gus.. )
