Ok so I got brand new equipment, Canon 400d, Sigma 8mm f/3.5, NN3 and a 190XB tripod, now to get along all this I made a big improvement (I think) on my website, I used google maps, and greybox to show the panos, check it out and let me know what you think, it took a good few hours of PHP/JS, also used detectVR, for FPP, DevalVR and QT thanks Fiero smile

Critiques & comments are welcomed smile

btw I think there is a problem on Safari (at least for windows, do not own a Mac to test it), the pano does not disapear when you close the Greybox, so if anyone knows a solution to this, I will appreciate it smile

Site looks good smile

Consider changing the type font on your panorama location list too the right of screen and add some cell padding to get the edge of the words away from the Google map frame by say 5 pixels.

The DHTML window worked fine for the panorama display and of the panoramas I looked at they seemed of good quality.

The auto google map Slideshow/location change is memory hungry whilst also viewing a panorama.

Thanks Smooth!

I am actually reconsidering the auto slideshow, I noticed how hungry in memory it is sad

Adding those 5 px also sounds like a good idea, I was starting to get frustrated/sleepy with PHP and JS so the design probably leaked a little bit.

Thanks for the feedback smile

BTW, some of the panos, are old, made with a Raynox & peleng.

Yes this Google autoslideshow is just irritating.
Not only because the movements when you do not want them but as Smooth says it steals the memory. Panoramas will become very unstable and difficult to pan. Even on my 2.0 Mac G5

I have seen it also on viewat.org and 360cities. I have pointed out for the last 7 years that having any automatic animation in the background is an absolute NONo for displaying panoramas.
Just a single pulsating hotspot will have an effect.

Your popup window is also to big for most resolutions. Remember that more than 30% have widescreen monitors today. The most popular are 1280x800 and 1440x900 Together with 1024x768 they are 58%

Even in Safari which has very small menus I need min 960 pixels height to see your without scrolling

Hans, thanks for the feedback, The animation actually stops when you click on a pano, so it was only until someone clicked on any markers than it automatically run, but, I took it off all together now, so maybe it will run smoother.

the popup was problem for me, i wanted to use the biggest one I could, but damn greybox redux did not let me use the fullscreen, and i had a lot of problems with normal Greybox, the panos did not dissapeared when you closed it sad

I hate having to use a separate pop-up, but, should I ?

Hans, did you have any trouble closing the panoramas? did the panos close properly? as I mentioned earlier, Safari for windows does not clear the screen sad

Thanks for the feedback!

safari for mac closes the window just fine whether you click on the x or on the background.

you should remove the underline on the image in the google map pop up though wink
