The most difficult pano I have ever stitched

I would like to show you my new pano made inside the main old building of University of Wroclaw: slow.vulcan.pl/~jz/al1.htm Reasons of big difficulty during stitching this pano were three different sources of light ( windows and very strong, different lamps in two ends of long hall) and lack of light in the center of the hall. Pano of this building made outside you can see here: slow.vulcan.pl/~jz/szermierz.htm and here: slow.vulcan.pl/~jz/wyspa_slodowa.htm ). Jan

Jan,
Wow! The hall is beautiful, but the lighting and your expert handling of the exposure makes it art! I couldn't imagine it being done better.
I envy you the gorgeous architecture.

Wow, I find all 3 of these absolutley stunning! So good in fact, i think it would be really nice if you could share your procedure and setup with us all! What equipment and settings did you use on the camera? Also any other hints and tips that can help us all produce similar work? What software, editing etc did you do after shooting? Thanks very much for sharing,
All the best, john Goulding.

Very difficult indeed, myself I couldn't dare to do something like that without shutting down the lights (at least one of them) and using looooong exposure time. Congratulations for the awesome work.
And yeah.. me too envy you for that beautiful town in which you live..

John, Andrey, Dorin - thanks for reply.
John, I don’t do anything special. My equipment: Canon 350D (Rebel XT) , new Sigma 8mm f 3.5, Manfrotto 190 prob tripod with home made panohead (you can see it here: slow.vulcan.pl/~jz/jak_to_robie.htm). I take every picture with bracketing +-2EV. After stitching three panos (one for every exposure) I merge them using Photoshop CS2. Sometimes I use layers and luminosity mask, sometimes “merge HDR” function from Photoshop. After merging panos I patch a nadir, correct colors and sharpen a final picture. And it is all.
Dorin, recently I talked with the host of main building of University, and I’m going to repeat taking picture in this difficult hall without artificial light. I hope the result will be better.

Hi Jan. Thank you for the reply. It must be the bracketing that helps so thanks for the tip. Do you use that method often or do you decide once you get to the location? All the best, John.

John Recenty I take photos with bracketing for almost every panoramas without moving people. I think it is the most important thing to do good panorama because light diffences on panorama are much bigger then on ordinary picture. Jan

This is my very first post in this forum. Congratulations on your panorama. It's really very nice. About bracketing, I normally use Photomatix (www.hdrsoft.com). In my workflow I usually combine the photos before the stitching process. I’ll try your way. Thank you for the tip and for this incredible panorama. Ricardo
