Well done!

Nice shots Dennis.
How do you zoom in on these? I find that the default is zoomed out a little far, distorting the areas away from center.

+1, I'm guessing your default FoV to be around 70-80 in Pano2VR. Would love to see one at 50-60.

Shooting a pano on that bridge would be like shooting a pano on an inner tube while going down the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon! It is all you can do to just walk across it.
I am playing around with the zoom settings. I optimize all of my panoramas for viewing full screen on my Dell 24" monitor. When I view them on my iPod touch, the view is zoomed in just a bit too much.
I have opened up the zooming parameters in the first panorama (Arches entrance, top left panorama). As time permits, I will make my way through the rest of the panoramas. Feedback always appreciated.

That's much better Dennis, with the controls top right it's a bit hard to find them. Guess I'm "programmed" to see them bottom center. All is good though the way they are.
Yosemite is on my "bucket list" and was wondering how many miles of driving to see all the normal sights there.. It looks like you went from one side of the park to the other with stops at various locations along the way. All in one day?
Very nice job..

Bob,
Thanks for the kind words. It is kind of hard to mess up when you have such a beautiful place as Yosemite to photograph.
The loop around the valley is 12 miles long. On a good day, you would take about 30 minutes or so to do the drive.
You really need to camp in the park and get out of your car to see what I photographed. This last trip was 10 days. I basically walked everywhere except for the west end of the valley. Getting out and hiking the trails is where you see the best sites. Some day my wife and I will stay in other areas of the park.
I put the controls in the upper corner in order to not block the view of the panorama. Placing the controls front and center covers the panorama. You might notice that I also made my logo half the size I was using before. I want to mark my panoramas without covering them up.

Zooming is now set for all panos in this series. Should work for PC's as will as iDevices.
Make sure to check out the gyroscopic effect on newer iDevices.

Dennis,
beautiful panoramas! You did great job. My favourite is "Lower Yosemite Falls"...
Congrats! Michal

Nice to see the results from the Sony NEX 7 Dennis. How are you finding it compared to your older Sony NEX 5?
I assume you used your Sigma 8mm on this occasion?
Love this part of your country, thanks for sharing.

Didn't see that these were from the NEX 7 until now.
I was wondering if you could post a link to a really large, high res pano. Just one with a lot of detail. I'd like to see what the NEX 7/Sigma 8 can produce at the limit.

The only pano in that collection that was not shot with the NEX is the one inside the barn. I used my D3S so I could properly bracket the exposures. I used my M1 and Tokina 10-17 lens for that panorama.
Since I use a ring mount pano head, swapping out bodies does not change the nodal point setting. As a matter of fact, I can remove the Nikon/NEX adapter and put my D300 on without changing the nodal point setting.
Buttons on the 7 behave just a bit different than the 5. No big deal. It just takes a bit of getting used to.
The larger 7 is better suited for my meat hook hands. The 5 is just a bit too small.
I have noticed that panoramas from the 7 are a bit sharper than 5. I don't think it is enough of a difference to warrant the upgrade.
Panos out of the 7 require a higher saturation level bump in Photoshop.
For panorama work, if you already own a 5, I do not see a big reason to upgrade.
For general photography, the viewfinder is great for shooting outdoors in bright sunlight.
I have not yet fully tested the high iso performance. The one quick test I did shows that the 7 is better at higher iso than the 5. I do not know at what point the 7 stops producing good panos.
The HDR feature is useless.
Deciding to upgrade from a 5 to the 7 is like trying to decide to upgrade your Nikon D3S to the D4. Both are great cameras. Unless there is a "must have" feature in the 7, you are better off spending your money on a better lens.
Here is a link to a single RAW image. It is 24 megs in size. I used the Sigma 8mm.

I do not regret purchasing the 7.

I noticed a jump in quality from the Sony NEX 5 to the NEX 5N. I figure the quality from the NEX 7 would be more similar to the 5N according to reviews.
