iPanos - the very new iphone app and a web portal with panoramas
Posted: 5 Aug 2010 at 10:47 GMT
Hi,

We are working on a new web portal with panoramas. All the panoramas presented on our website can be viewed through an iPhone application.
Our portal has a very user-friendly interface and a specially designed tool, helpful in editing and arranging the panoramas into virtual tours.
The iPhone application, which is fully compatible with the website, allows users to download and save particular panoramas on their device. We are working on additional features and functions as well as new versions for iPad and iPhone4.
If you like our project don't hesitate to let us know. We will appreciate all opinions and remarks.
Here is a link to our website: www.ipanos.eu and to our iPhone application: itms://itunes.apple.com/us/app/ipanos/id369872734?mt=8

Nice!
I'm writing this from my iPad so as you can guess, my first comment is when the application be optimized for iPad?

I will have a look later on how to add my panos when I'm back on a proper Mac smile

Cheer,
Thomas

We would like to redesign the interface of iPanos for iPad. We hope it would be ready in 2 months.

Best regards,

Good news, thanks.

From what I've seen, I do like the application and the website.
On the website, I might suggest, if you allow, that it is a bit too much "iPhone" driven.
I have an iPhone and an iPad so I'm glad that you build cool stuff for these devices but I don't see the need to have the "iPhone frame" on the webpage.
A more polished, simple interface on the website might make the panoramas look even better.
Of course, if you strategy is to focus only on the iDevices, then ok.
But I would argue that nice panoramas deserve to have a nice interface on the website as well!

If you go to my website or to 360cities.net, you will see that I have already posted a lot of panoramas.
So I know how time consuming it is to upload and populate the informations around the panorama itself.

For a panographer like me (who is not selling virtual tours), what would you say to convince me to spend a lot of time uploading my panoramas and building the virtual tours on your platform?

(Sorry if I sound pushy but time is precious so I prefer to understand things before starting to spend a lot of time in a platform)

Thanks,
Thomas

Your panoramas will be available for users of iOS devices (in the future when iPanos would be popular Android as well). You'll be able to save them to these devices' storage and to show them even if you haven't got an internet connection. Our tour builder is very user friendly and you've got video tutorials which explain each step. It's free while you have to pay 179.- euro/year to 360cities. We've got more features than 360cities.net (and we're still working to implement even more) In the future we would like to make it possible to export entire tour - downloading all neccesary files to use your panoramas as a tour on other website or CD/DVD etc.
What convinced you to spend your time uploading panoramas to 360cities?
