?????
What the .... does that has to do with Flash 9.
He seems to follow up on my presentation of the FPP ZOOM control of the FOV just like Claus did with KRPano. Just remember that FPP has had that since 2007.

Have tried it and I assume this is a typo. What he means is that it is only for flash not Quicktime. It should say Flash 9-10.
There is a little confusing as the option for it is in the flash parameters but there is no option to set the actual FOV. You still have to set it in the viewing parameters and you still have to set vertical FOV. There is no preview showing the result for flash output when you choose one of the other options.
Never mind the good thing is that we now have these options in all the 3 main viewers. For a web designer this is a must and the way it works with zoom in FPP was one of the main reasons for me to choose FPP. But it shows how much in front FPP has been as this has been part of it since the start in 2007.

Hans,
While I respect what you are saying regarding that feature the incessant comments on FPP are not necessary. Pano2VR has had a GUI from the start unlike FPP - So what?
Features get introduced and that is a good thing.

Hans,
Would you be so kind as to remind me why this is so important. My memory is not what it once may have been (not that I remember what it was like )- I vaguely recall reading a post or article by you about this, maybe you could provide the URL so I can read it again.
Thanks,
Andrew

You might know that the vertical FOV used in QTVR has always been a large problem as this will cause distortions when you change the proportions of the movie. Pano2VR flash and KRpano has had the same problem but FPP solved it with the zoom parameter which now both KRPano and Pano2VR has duplicated with the DFOV which is diagonal FOV.
If you look at this page www.panoramas.dk/US/chicago-greenroofs.html you can see that I use a very wide display which is essential if you want to fill the screen horizontally and also people to read the text (and click the ads). Believe me ads below the area you see initially has very limited value. CTR will drop from 2% to 0.5%. How wide the panorama displays depends on browser and how wide your screen is. If you drag the browser you will see that the vertical FOV is not constant but both vertical and horisontal FOV changes with the proportions. Also when you click fullscreen the image keeps the resolution and just expands with larger vertical FOV. That means you can use smaller sizes and still have enough resolution for large screens.
Here is the same page with Pano2VR standard vertical FOV www.panoramas.dk/US/chicago-greenroofs-pano2vr.ht...
Drag this one to a wider pano and you get much more distortions in the corners and when you go fullscreen you actually zoom in to a size larger than the actual resolution.

agreed, I could make a list of things krpano can do that fpp and pano2vr cannot.

well i had an answer all typed out and when i submitted it my session had timed out. all lost. here is the edited version. some of these are minor and some i would concider major features.
1. lensflare effects 2. flat panorama viewing 3. multirez and zoomify features 4. parent/child hotspots. 5. hotspot grouping 6. stereographic, fisheye, architechural projections 7. encryption 8. expiration dates on images 9. 1 click conversion to a single embedded/ecrypted .swf 10. area attributes - run the pano in any size or section of the entire stage (setting plugings parent to "stage" allows the use of plugins outside of the main tour when used with the "area" attribute.)
version 1.0.9 is almost ready and it has even more new features we are not even aware of yet. Klaus must have more time to apply to his pano player than Dennis has. I know I read Dennis has alot of irons in the fire and FPP is only 1 of them. Based on that factor alone KRP will advance faster than FPP.
The number 1 thing FPP has over KRP is a good GUI. KRP has a GUI but it is very trivial. FCC is updated faster than its host player. Autopano, KRP's GUI, cannot keep up with the advancements of its host player. If KRP stays on the same pace it is now. FPP won't be able to keep up. But this isnt a FPP vs KRP post.
My point is agree that there is no reason to brag over who had what first. FPP, KRP and Pano2VR are all great, its that competition that benefits all of us.

Quite honestly: The REAL winner of it all... are WE the panorama creators who need the programs to do our jobs.
The more serious and active players there are out there, the more features and functions and usability we can get.
Better than having QTVR as the ONLY player around.
Lensflare effects? Been a part of FPP for a long time, with 9 different flares available... not that I use them though.

Thomas is waking up
Mr. Wade, I really hope you are not trying to convince us it was you who started this wide-screen revolution now do you? That would be sooo sad, because we all know it was HANS who did that back in 1986. Or was it 1968? Anyway, a long long time ago, looooong before you were even born maybe!
HA!
